Accepting the quest
I heard Captain Landenel
regaling you with the many tales of his youth. Much has he seen and known, having journeyed throughout Eorzea with naught but his wits.
I am a child of the Twelveswood, a Wailer through and through. Never have I cast a shadow that was not forged by a sun that perches atop the great elm at dawn.
Yet travel I would, if only in mind. They say that...they say an Ul'dahn trader is nearby, to the south. Will you find for me a thing from that city strange and great? I have duties or else I would go. You'll not find me ungrateful.
Speak with the Ul'dahn trader.
Now that, madam/sire, is what I call a close call! Good for nothing, that guard of mine. I swear these new sellswords are more of sellscabbards. Here, pray take this for your trouble, the more precious of my wares─
Ul'dahn incense!
- FR Hélas, mon garde du corps n'a pas eu autant de chance. ‘Alas, my bodyguard was not so lucky.’ English calls his guard good for nothing; French says his bodyguard was not so lucky.
- FR Ces maudits condors lui ont dévoré les yeux. ‘Those cursed condors devoured his eyes.’ English puns that new sellswords are more like sellscabbards; French says condors devoured the guard's eyes.
A close call, this was. Another moment and I would have been carrion for their feast.
Deliver the
Ul'dahn incense to Detoh Moshroca

Did you...did you find something? Ah! I hope to the Twelve that it transports me, as the captain's tales do!
The scent! My head swims... I see markets and the Coliseum, languorous evening strolls past roses with the heat of the sun still on them.
- FR Les Uldiens doivent aimer les odeurs fortes... ‘The Ul'dahns must like strong smells...’ English says the scent conjures markets, the Coliseum and rose-lined strolls; French has her sneeze and say Ul'dahns like strong smells.
- DE Was ist das für ein Gewürz? ‘What kind of spice is this?’ English exclaims that the scent makes her head swim; German has her ask what kind of spice this is.
- DE So kocht man also in Ul'dah! ‘So that's how they cook in Ul'dah!’ English says the scent conjures markets, the Coliseum and rose-lined strolls; German has her conclude this is Ul'dahn cooking.
- JA ウルダハの民は、強い匂いの物を好むのだな……。 ‘The people of Ul'dah like strong-smelling things, I see...’ English says the scent conjures markets, the Coliseum and rose-lined strolls; Japanese has her sneeze and say Ul'dahns like strong smells.
What smells! They inflame my imagination, and possibly my sinuses! Thank you, adventurer, you have more than earned this.
