  1. Deliver the package for the Dutiful Sisters to Lonwoerd.
  2. Return to J'nasshym.
Journal
  1. J'nasshym of the Brugaire Consortium seeks the services of a conveniently unoccupied adventurer.
  2. J'nasshym of the Brugaire Consortium has tasked you with making a delivery─a gift parcel for services rendered─to the Dutiful Sisters of the Edelweiss. Head to the Sisters' “convent” found near Fisherman's Bottom, and hand the package directly to Lonwoerd.
  3. You have delivered the package to Lonwoerd. Return to the Octant and speak with J'nasshym.
  4. You return to J'nasshym and convey Lonwoerd's message. It would seem that the Dutiful Sisters are far more important to the continued well-being of Limsa Lominsa than their modest facade would indicate...
Hidden
Lore In truth, the 'convent' works for the Rogues' Guild. The guild makes sure that no one breaks the unwritten rules among criminals.
Easter egg This pokes fun at MMO errands. The journal asks for a 'conveniently unoccupied adventurer'. J'nasshym picks you because you look like someone who enjoys being stopped for boring little jobs.
Spoiler about later in the story

Easter egg Later, in My First Daggers, the guild's master calls this one-eyed doorman 'Ol' Lonny Left-patch'. He can't throw a blade, but that one eye misses nothing.

Spoiler about later in the story

Foreshadowing The Dutiful Sisters are not what they seem. J'nasshym hints that you may go to them yourself one day. So remember this 'convent' near Fisherman's Bottom.

Spoiler about later in the story

In-game text The Encyclopaedia Eorzea says the Upright Thieves became the Rogues' Guild. This happened after Admiral Merlwyb's order that banned piracy.

Patch change This quest was added later, in patch 2.4, along with the Rogue class. Rogue is the only class added outside the first release of an expansion. So it can't be picked when creating a character.
Title reference The title points to the song 'Edelweiss' from The Sound of Music. That story begins in a convent. Note that the journal itself puts the Sisters' 'convent' in quotation marks.
Characters 3
  • J'nasshym

J'nasshym of the Brugaire Consortium, a business, is at the Octant. She is looking for a free adventurer to make a delivery.

  • Lonwoerd

Lonwoerd is the doorman of the Dutiful Sisters of the Edelweiss, a quiet "convent" near Fisherman's Bottom.

  • Merlwyb

Admiral Merlwyb does not appear in this quest; the name comes up only in a note on the city's past.

What happens in this quest spoilers for this quest
  • J'nasshym sends a thank-you gift to the Dutiful Sisters of the Edelweiss, who did a service for her firm. She does not say what they do, but says they are more than they seem and that they reassure businesses like hers.
  • Lonwoerd tells visitors without proper business to go away. He opens the Brugaire Consortium's gift of walnut bread, ginger cookies and sandwiches, and saves some for himself. He says the Sisters are always there if J'nasshym's boss needs them again.
  • Merlwyb: The Encyclopaedia Eorzea says Admiral Merlwyb gave an order that banned piracy. After that order, a group called the Upright Thieves became the Rogues' Guild.
What the Japanese, French and German versions say 6

Japanese

EN 'Head to the Sisters' “convent” found near Fisherman's Bottom, and hand the package directly to Lonwoerd.'

, 'At the Edelweiss Trading Company in Limsa Lominsa, hand the parcel to the warehouse keeper, Lonwoerd.'

The Dutiful Sisters are a trading company here, and Lonwoerd is its warehouse keeper. There is no fake convent at all.

Name origin

EN 'You'll find the Dutiful Sisters'...er, “convent” down near Fisherman's Bottom.'

, 'I would like you to take a parcel to the Edelweiss Trading House, near the net store.'

FR «Vous avez trrransmis mon colis à la Société de négoce de l'Edelweiss ?», 'Did you deliver my parcel to the Edelweiss Trading Company?'

DE „Bitte bring mein Paket zu den Artigen Schwestern von Edelweiß drüben bei Fischers Bodden.“, 'Please take my parcel to the Well-Behaved Sisters of Edelweiss over at Fischers Bodden.'

Only German keeps the sisters. The English convent and the Japanese and French trading house both hide the Rogues' Guild. No reason for the swap is published.

French

Name

EN 'You seem the type who enjoys being accosted for menial tasks, and I require someone to make a delivery to the Dutiful Sisters of the Edelweiss.'

FR «Il faudrait déposer ce colis à la Société de négoce de l'Edelweiss.», 'This parcel must be dropped off at the Trading Company of the Edelweiss.'

A warehouse stands in for the 'convent'. So J'nasshym's pause before the word, the English joke, is gone.

Different

EN '...What's this, then? A parcel from the Brugaire Consortium, eh? Let's have a peek inside...'

You have a gift for us from the Brugaire Consortium? It's kind of them to want to thank us, when they have already paid.'

Lonwoerd lets slip that the gift is an extra, a kind gesture from the Consortium. The English keeps the deal vague.

Speech style

EN 'Excuse me, miss/sir, but might you have a moment or two to spare?' · 'I wouldn't be surprised if you hadn't heard of them─the Sisters prefer not to advertise their presence here in Limsa Lominsa.' · 'You've delivered the package as I requested? Very good.'

FR «Excusez-moi, mais aurrriez-vous un peu de temps à me consacrer ?», 'Excuse me, but would you have a little time to spare for me?' There are many trading companies in Limsa Lominsa, but the Edelweiss takes on certain kinds of contracts that no one else handles.' · «Vous avez livré mon paquet ? Merrrci infiniment !», 'You delivered my package? Thank you so much!'

J'nasshym rolls her r's. The English J'nasshym speaks plainly.

German

Name

EN 'Head to the Sisters' “convent” found near Fisherman's Bottom, and hand the package directly to Lonwoerd.'

DE „J'nasshym bittet dich, ein Paket bei den Artigen Schwestern von Edelweiß bei Fischers Bodden abzuliefern.“, 'J'nasshym asks you to deliver a parcel to the Well-Behaved Sisters of Edelweiss at Fisher's Lagoon.'

A Bodden is a shallow coastal lagoon, like a bay. The word is also Low German for 'bottom', so the name keeps the English sense too.

Accepting the quest

J'nasshym

Excuse me, miss/sir, but might you have a moment or two to spare? You seem the type who enjoys being accosted for menial tasks, and I require someone to make a delivery to the Dutiful Sisters of the Edelweiss.

‘This parcel must be dropped off at the Trading Company of the Edelweiss.’ A warehouse stands in for the 'convent'. So J'nasshym's pause before the word, the English joke, is gone.

I wouldn't be surprised if you hadn't heard of them─the Sisters prefer not to advertise their presence here in Limsa Lominsa.

‘Between us: the Sisters are not all that well-behaved, strictly speaking.’ English says they keep their presence quiet; German jokes the Sisters are less well-behaved than their name says.
‘Among the many trading companies in Limsa Lominsa, the Edelweiss Company are people who take on rather special jobs.’ English says they keep their presence quiet; Japanese says they take on rather special jobs.

They do, however, provide a rather unique service of which the Brugaire Consortium has recently been the beneficiary. I would have you deliver this package to their doorman, Lonwoerd, along with our profuse gratitude.

Deliver the package for the Dutiful Sisters to Lonwoerd

J'nasshym

You'll find the Dutiful Sisters'...er, “convent” down near Fisherman's Bottom. Pray deliver the package to the doorman, along with the sincere gratitude of the Brugaire Consortium.

‘Did you deliver my parcel to the Edelweiss Trading Company?’
‘Please take my parcel to the Well-Behaved Sisters of Edelweiss over at Fischers Bodden.’

Lonwoerd

Aye, this's the Dutiful Sisters o' the Edelweiss─a house o' deep reflection an' meditation. So unless ye've proper business with us, ye can kindly bugger off.

‘You are currently at the warehouse of the Edelweiss Trading Company, adventurer.’ English calls the place a house of deep reflection and meditation; French says it is a warehouse.
‘If you have nothing to do here, I will be obliged to ask you to kindly leave the premises at once.’ English rudely tells you to bugger off; French asks you to leave in stiff, formal politeness.
‘Unauthorized persons are not allowed in, so you'll have to make do with me.’ English tells you to leave; German says you will have to make do with him instead.
‘This is the warehouse of the “Edelweiss Company.”’ English calls the place a house of deep reflection and meditation; Japanese says it is a warehouse.

Ho there, [name]. Ye lookin' to head inside?

...What's this, then? A parcel from the Brugaire Consortium, eh? Let's have a peek inside...

Oooh, walnut bread an' ginger cookies. ...An' a few o' them Bismarck finger sandwiches, too! Them Consortium culls know the right way to show appreciation!

‘For a while now it has been handling everything to do with food.’ English praises how the Consortium shows thanks; French says the Consortium has long dealt in food.
‘Just what you'd expect of the “Brugaire Consortium,” skilled at handling food as well.’ English praises how the Consortium shows thanks; Japanese praises its skill at handling food.

Some o' them Sisters have unholy appetites, so I'd best save a few bites for meself afore I take this inside... Ahem. You let J'nasshym know we're always here should her boss have need of us again.

‘We have a few gluttons here who will be grateful for this gift.’ English jokes he'll keep a few bites for himself first; French just says the gluttons will be grateful.
‘We have some big eaters here, so I'll gratefully accept it.’ English jokes he'll keep a few bites for himself first; Japanese simply accepts the gift gratefully.

Return to J'nasshym

J'nasshym

You've delivered the package as I requested? Very good. I shall pass on the Sisters' sentiments to my superior.

...Hm? What manner of services do the Dutiful Sisters provide?

Continue your stay in Limsa Lominsa, and you'll likely find out soon enough. In fact, if you're confident in your abilities─and comfortable with the unconventional─you might wish to approach them yourself...

I'm quite sure an adventurer of your stature has already glimpsed the truth behind the facade. For a business such as ours, their presence in the city is incredibly reassuring!
