Accepting the quest

Marcette

You have the honor of addressing Marcette, realm-renowned naturalist and esteemed authoress of the New Eorzean Geographic, the single most comprehensive collection of knowledge our realm has ever seen─or ever will see.

‘I am a naturalist known throughout Eorzea, and the esteemed author of the "New Eorzean Encyclopedia of Natural History".’ English names her work the New Eorzean Geographic; French names it the New Eorzean Encyclopedia of Natural History.
  • DE Ich arbeite nämlich gerade an dem Epoche machenden Werk Neue Eorzäische Naturgeschichte Teil XIV: Ein Biotop, wiedergeboren! ‘I am in fact currently working on the epoch-making work New Eorzean Natural History Part XIV: A Biotope, Reborn!’ English names her work the New Eorzean Geographic; German names it New Eorzean Natural History Part XIV: A Biotope, Reborn.
‘To write the "New Eorzea Natural History", I am now working on research into myconid species.’ English names her work the New Eorzean Geographic; Japanese names it the New Eorzea Natural History.

fetch five toadstool caps

Marcette

You've not heard of the Geographic? Why, of course you haven't─it hasn't been published yet! And it never will be if my assistants keep dawdling around instead of doing their jobs! So hop to it!

  • DE Du siehst jedenfalls unglaublich gelangweilt aus. ‘You certainly look incredibly bored, at any rate.’ English jokes you can't know the book since it is unpublished; German says you look incredibly bored.
‘Hey, you, you've got nothing to do anyway, right?’ English jokes you can't know the book since it is unpublished; Japanese assumes you have nothing better to do.

Of course I'm talking to you! Do you see anyone else here? Now, for the seventy-thousandth time: five toadstool caps, and be quick with them!

Deliver the toadstool caps to Marcette.

Marcette

Have you brought me my toadstool caps? Each moment you dally deprives the realm of my prodigious knowledge!

‘I can't keep my publisher waiting forever!’ English says your dallying deprives the realm of her knowledge; German says she can't stall her publisher forever.

Yes, yes, hand it over, now. But of course! It is just as I theorized─the spore density of these toadstools is exponentially greater than that of samples taken from before the Calamity!

Clearly, they have evolved as such in order to adapt to an increasingly harsh environment. Muahahaha! And with this, another entry of the New Eorzean Geographic is complete! ...Ahem, who are you, again?

  • DE Diese Entdeckung rückt den naturkundlichen Thron wieder einen ganzen Malm näher in meine Reichweite! ‘This discovery brings the throne of natural science a whole malm closer within my reach!’ English says another entry of her book is complete; German says the discovery brings the throne of natural science closer.
‘Soon I will rule over the druids of Gridania from it.’ English ends with her forgetting who you are; German ends with her dreaming of ruling Gridania's druids.
‘With this theory, I'm going to make a name for myself!’ English says another entry of her book is complete; Japanese says she will make her name with this theory.
