Hidden
Lore Niniya says this place has been a favorite spot for adventurers for almost twenty years. That began when a retired freelance and his friends founded the Adventurers' Guild here.
Easter egg Ahldskyf joins in the prank. First he swears the herbs are deadly 'dream flowers' used to make 'somnus'. Then he admits he was only joking.
Easter egg The made-up drug 'somnus' is Latin for 'sleep'. Somnus is also the Roman figure who stands for sleep. It is a good name for a scent said to gently send you 'into the sleep of death'.
Easter egg Ahldskyf's name means 'Old Ship' in the traditional Roegadyn language. It is a good name for a sea captain like him.
In-game text The item's own description tells you what you are carrying. The 'peculiar herb' is 'a common weed rumored to have relaxing properties when either ingested or smoked'.

Accepting the quest

Niniya

Well, would you look at this─a shiny, new adventurer. Listen close, lass/lad, I've some information that might just help put you on the map here in Limsa.

I was passing through Bulwark Hall below not long ago, and saw a bunch of herbs just scattered about on the ground. Now, I'm not entirely certain, but I think they might've been the black market wares known as “dream flowers.”

Limsa Lominsa is a busy port, and not all the merchants that blow in across the Strait are above board, if you know what I mean. How'd the plants end up in the Mizzenmast? Who knows─might've been a deal gone bad. The important thing is you make a name for yourself by handing them in.

‘So, if you find something of the kind, I'm sure the authorities will reward you.’ English says handing them in makes you a name; French says the authorities will reward you.

Speak to Skaenrael, and she'll get you down to the first floor. Then all you have to do is pick up the herbs, and take them to Ahldskyf at the Octant. Being a worldly captain, he knows a thing or two about such shady goods.

Speak with Skaenrael

Skaenrael

You wish to visit Bulwark Hall below? The Crow's Lift is ready when you are.

If you mean to make Limsa Lominsa your home, then I'd suggest you take the lift down to the lower decks and attune yourself to the aetheryte.

Hm? You forget to do something? Well, it never hurts to take a moment and think about where you're going.

Deliver the peculiar herbs to Ahldskyf

Ahldskyf

Yes, I am Ahldskyf. You have some herbs you wish me to examine?

  • FR Salut, moussaillon. ‘Hi, ship's boy. I am indeed Ahldskyf, the captain of the Orion.’ Ahldskyf talks like an old sea captain and calls you a young sailor in training. The English Ahldskyf is calm and formal.

...Yes. As you suspected, these are the highly illegal blooms known as dream flowers. They are the prime ingredient in the creation of “somnus”─a substance whose fragrance is said to lull the sniffer's mind into the sleep of death.

  • DE Immer-Traum-Kraut! ‘Ever-dream herb!’ Ahldskyf is not joking here. He falls for the prank too and says it fooled you both.

...Forgive me, I could not resist the jest! These herbs are naught more than Althyk lavender, a common enough export from Limsa Lominsa. In fact, these probably spilled from crates that were loaded onto my very own ship.

  • DE Das ist doch bloß stinknormaler Althyk-Lavendel! ‘That's just totally ordinary Althyk lavender!’
  • DE Nee, Moment mal ...! ‘No, wait a moment...!’ English has him admit he could not resist the jest; German has him suddenly realise his own mistake.

I think someone has been having a bit of fun with you, miss/son. But not to worry! You've learned a few things, and made a new acquaintance. Well met!

‘But doing the legwork to get information like that is no bad thing.’ It means going in person to find things out. Ahldskyf praises it, prank or not.
‘I don't know who sent you here, but I imagine that person wanted to play a prank on you, a kind of hazing.’ A bizutage is the rite new students go through in French schools. In English, Ahldskyf just calls it fun.
‘Well, it seems we were made fools of, but better safe than sorry.’ A German proverb. Word for word it is 'caution is better than leniency': a play on Vor-sicht, 'fore-sight', and Nach-sicht, 'after-sight'.
