What you know from earlier quests 2
    • #89 Swinophobia: Piralnaut acts bold, but he is terrified of boars and has feared them for weeks. After you cull five, he thanks you. You give him courage, and he vows to guard the spire well.
    • #90 Stand-in Sentry: Piralnaut sends you to stand guard at three Twin Adder standards (flags). When you report fell fiends, dangerous monsters, he finds it odd, since the route never had such trouble. He fears their numbers are rising and wants a close watch.

Florimond

You have the look of one who has seen more than her/his fair share of danger. I am Florimond, a sentry of Josselin's Spire...though you would be forgiven for imagining me a sentry of this hut, so seldom have I left it in recent days. I sustained an injury, you see, and have been out of commission for some time.

  • FR Pourriez-vous partir combattre des monstres pour moi ? ‘Could you go and fight monsters for me?’ English jokes he could be taken for a sentry of the hut; French directly asks you to fight monsters for him.
  • JA 俺に代わって魔物駆除に参加してくれないか? ‘Would you take part in the monster cull in my place?’ English jokes he could be taken for a sentry of the hut; Japanese directly asks you to join the cull for him.

Anyway, my Wood Wailer comrades are about to commence a culling operation in the Bramble Patch, and the thought of them marching into the jaws of danger while I languish here like a coddled babe is frankly too much to bear. I realize this is sudden, but might I trouble you to take part in the operation in my stead? If you would do me this favor, seek out Captain Aniud at Josselin's Spire. He will tell you all you need to know.

  • FR Comme vous le voyez, je suis blessé, et pas vraiment en état de me battre. ‘As you can see, I am injured, and not really in a state to fight.’ English laments languishing like a coddled babe while comrades face danger; French just says he is injured and unfit to fight.
  • JA 俺はこのとおり、怪我をしていて戦力にならんのだ。 ‘As you can see, I'm injured and of no use in a fight.’ English laments languishing like a coddled babe while comrades face danger; Japanese just says he is injured and useless in a fight.

Report to Aniud.

Aniud

What brings you here, adventurer? Florimond's replacement, you say? And...you are aware of the risks? Aye, well, you do seem a capable sort.

Florimond's task was to be the slaying of six black bats in the Bramble Patch. I take it you will now see to this? Very well. I wish you the best of luck.

Report to Aniud.

Aniud

So you have seen to the black bats. We couldn't have asked for a better substitute. You have my gratitude. Now, at the risk of seeming brazen, I would ask you a favor of my own. Might you bear a message to Florimond for me?

The lad is being overly hard on himself for his absence. Tell him that his fretting avails no one, he himself least of all. He serves the Wood Wailers best by getting back on his feet with all swiftness─and that requires peace of mind.

Speak with Florimond.

Florimond

A message...from Captain Aniud? I see... The captain speaks true. I must say, a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders. As bade, I shall focus all my energies on recovery, the sooner to resume my duties. My thanks again, friend.
