  3. You have gathered the cloud marble. Take them back to Beneger at the Golden Bazaar.
  4. If the glimmer found within the cloud marble indeed proves to be mythril, it could spell the revival of the Golden Bazaar. All of Beneger's hopes for the future are riding on these slabs of rock.
Hidden
Lore The war Beneger blames is the fall of Ala Mhigo, which the Garlean Empire took in the Year 1557 of the Sixth Astral Era. With the city in imperial hands, the road to it lost its trade.
Easter egg Mythril comes from 'mithril' in Tolkien's books, made of Elvish words meaning 'gray' and 'glitter'. A good match for the glimmer Beneger sees in the cloud marble.
Title reference The title swaps gold for mythril in 'There's gold in them thar hills', an old American saying that means there is money to be made. It fits Beneger's dream of a mythril rush.

Beneger

There's work to be done, [name]. You haven't let me down so far─don't start now. A miner recently come from Amajina & Sons wants a sample of stone from the eastern ruins.

I've a mind to give him five slabs of cloud marble from the Invisible City, and I need you to get them. Showing these to him would nigh guarantee a continued influx of miners to the Bazaar.

Deliver the cloud marble to Beneger.

Beneger

Have you gotten all the cloud marble samples I need, [name]?

So this is the cloud marble I've heard so much about. Gods, look at the glimmer in this stone... I must admit I'd never seen it for myself, I had only heard tell of it. I see now why the mythril rumors have risen.

Now, you listen to me, you bloody rock! The Golden Bazaar is counting on you. If this talk of mythril turns out to be a farce, I swear by the Twelve I'll dig up every last pebble of you myself, grind you to powder, and sell you to the chocobo stables to sop up piss and runny shite!

  • DE Braver kleiner Stein, bitte enthalte viel Mithril, und locke reichlich Kunden an ... ‘Good little stone, please contain lots of mithril, and lure plenty of customers...’ English threatens the "bloody rock" with grinding it to powder; German sweetly begs the good little stone.
‘I'm counting on you, dear little "white shining stone".’ English threatens the "bloody rock" with grinding it to powder; Japanese pleads affectionately with the stone.

Ahem... Yes, well, sorry about that. It's just that ever since the war saw the road to Ala Mhigo cut off, the Bazaar has fallen on tough times. It is a waypoint choked off from its way, and is now little more than a point.

‘... Well, actually business has been quite good ever since the war cut off the land route to Ala Mhigo and our town gained importance as a trade hub.’ English says the Bazaar fell on tough times; German says business has been good since, as a trade hub.

But I will not let it be so. I'm going to make the Golden Bazaar golden once more. From there, I'll become one of the richest men in Thanalan. Then I'll finally be able to give Caitlyn the life those mongrels stole from her.

‘I myself will of course become super rich from it and finally propose to Caitlyn, that's for sure!’ English says he will give Caitlyn the life the mongrels stole; German says he will finally propose to her.
‘And once I'm super rich... I'll go and carry Caitlyn off, no matter what.’ English says he will give Caitlyn the life the mongrels stole; Japanese says he will carry her off.

She's held on to the memory of my brother for so long, she's become blind to the people who care for her. People like...well... Er, I don't suppose you could keep that last bit from Caitlyn, could you?

  • FR Ce sera moi qui lui ferai oublier mon frère ! ‘I'll be the one who makes her forget my brother!’ English shyly hints at people who care for her; French boldly says he will make her forget his brother.
‘That will finally make her forget her thoughts of my late brother.’ English shyly hints at people who care for her; German confidently says this will make her forget his brother.
‘I'll be the one to make her forget all about my dead big brother.’ English shyly hints at people who care for her; Japanese boldly says he will make her forget his brother.
