What you know from earlier quests 4
- #15 The Rats in the Wharf: H'naanza tells you Baderon
is offering a reward to anyone who kills at least five wharf rats. Plenty of them lurk outside the Tempest Gate, so H'naanza urges you to hurry and take the chance. - #17 Back in the Water: H'naanza's workshop, Naldiq & Vymelli's, is busy building a galleon (a large ship). Still, the Fishermen's Guild is an old, valued client, so she promises to do her best for Sisipu
. She is a famous shipbuilder who designed the Triumph, flagship of Limsa's Crimson Fleet. - #55 A Bridge Too Full: An angry coachman on Oschon's Embrace says his load from the Drydocks is meant for Forgemaster H'naanza herself, and demands that the way be cleared.
- #56 Relighting the Torch: H'naanza is annoyed: she sent someone to fix the beacon's furnace less than a week ago. She guesses the trapped bomb was too wild, and agrees to send an artisan to strengthen the furnace. She swears "Byregot's beard", calling on the craftsmen's god.

Ahtbyrm is the head shipwright at the Moraby Drydocks. He is waiting for materials he ordered over a month ago.
What happens in this quest spoilers for this quest
- H'naanza
sends you with a letter to Ahtbyrm
, the head shipwright at the Moraby Drydocks. Her guild forges the ship's parts, while the building happens at the docks. She sees passing on the armorer's skills as her "Builder-given duty". - Ahtbyrm
is angry at another delay, then says sorry to you, the messenger. He leads work on the Victory, the first new warship since the Calamity, the disaster that sank most of their ships. To him it is a symbol of Limsa Lominsa's rebirth.
What the Japanese, French and German versions say 4
Japanese
EN 'My apologies. The messenger does not deserve to bear the brunt of my frustration. Might I have your name?'
……で、あんたの名は?」, 'Oops, no use grumbling to you. Thanks for bringing it. ...So, what's your name?'
Ahtbyrm
talks like a rough, friendly dockhand. The English Ahtbyrm is stiffly formal and never thanks you.
French
EN 'What say you to taking on some work from Naldiq & Vymelli's?' · 'We forge most of the ship's bits and pieces here at the Armorers' Guild, but the actual construction takes place at the docks found in the south of lower La Noscea.'
FR «Tiens, je cherrrche justement quelqu'un à qui je peux faire confiance.», 'Say, I happen to be looking for someone I can trust.' I have to stay here to supervise making the parts we put together there.'
Forgemaster H'naanza's
rolled r's are written out on the page. The English writes her speech plainly.
German
EN 'If you've no confidence in your sense of direction, you'd be best served making use of the chocobo porters. First floor of the Mizzenmast, in case you were wondering.'
If you are not sure how best to get there, take a chocobo porter from the ground floor of the Gaff Schooner.'
The inn is named after a whole sailing ship, a gaff schooner, where the English Mizzenmast is a single mast.

Accepting the quest
What say you to taking on some work from Naldiq & Vymelli's? We've a great hulking warship to build and could certainly use an extra hand for any number of tasks.
For your first job, I need you to run this
missive over to Ahtbyrm
, the head shipwright at the Moraby Drydocks.
We forge most of the ship's bits and pieces here at the Armorers' Guild, but the actual construction takes place at the docks found in the south of lower La Noscea.
That's also where you'll find the main offices of Naldiq & Vymelli's. The Moraby Drydocks is one of Limsa Lominsa's most important districts─at least as far as I'm concerned─and I'm sure you'll not regret attuning yourself to the area's aetheryte.
If you've no confidence in your sense of direction, you'd be best served making use of the chocobo porters. First floor of the Mizzenmast, in case you were wondering.
‘If you are not sure how best to get there, take a chocobo porter from the ground floor of the Gaff Schooner.’ The inn is named after a whole sailing ship, a gaff schooner, where the English Mizzenmast is a single mast.
Should you choose to make the trek on your own two feet, leave the city through the Tempest Gate and follow the road south. May the Navigator guide your steps.
‘It's rather urgent, so I'm counting on you to hurry.’ English ends with a blessing from the Navigator; French says it is urgent and asks you to hurry.
‘And I'd be grateful if you could hurry.’ English ends with a blessing from the Navigator; German asks you to hurry.
‘Well then, hurry, I'm counting on you.’ English ends with a blessing from the Navigator; Japanese asks you to hurry.
Deliver the
missive to Ahtbyrm
at the Moraby Drydocks
You have a
missive for me from Forgemaster H'naanza
? I assume it pertains to the pending arrival of the materials I ordered over a moon past. Let's see it, then.
Blast and botheration! Another delay? I am well aware of the shortage of skilled artisans, but this is insufferable!
My apologies. The messenger does not deserve to bear the brunt of my frustration. Might I have your name?
- FR Oh, excuse-moi, j'ai oublié de te remercier. ‘Oh, sorry, I forgot to thank you.’ English apologizes for venting his frustration at the messenger; French apologizes for forgetting to thank you.
[name], is it? Well, [name], this proud maiden you see taking shape before you is the Victory, the first new vessel to grace the docks since the Calamity.
We may have lost the bulk of our ships that fateful day, but starting with this beauty, we will restore the Maelstrom's fleet to its former glory. The Victory is more than a simple warship─it is the symbol of Limsa Lominsa's rebirth from the wreckage wrought by the coming of the Seventh Umbral Era.
- DE Die Victory ist nur der Anfang! ‘The Victory is only the beginning!’ English calls the Victory the symbol of Limsa Lominsa's rebirth; German calls it only the beginning.
Thus we are striving to complete her construction as swiftly as possible, even going so far as to hire veteran shipwrights from outside the thalassocracy.
Yet even with such unprecedented measures, there are never enough hands to handle the abundance of tasks. Should you choose to linger at the docks for a time, there is no end of odd jobs for a hardworking adventurer. Be you fair warned─there is no place here for layabouts and troublemakers.
‘So don't hesitate to ask me if you want to contribute to the biggest Limsan industrial project under way.’ English warns that layabouts and troublemakers have no place here; French invites you into Limsa's biggest industrial project.
‘There's a mountain of jobs I'd like to ask even you, an adventurer, to do, so please do lend a hand, I'm counting on you.’ English warns that layabouts and troublemakers have no place here; Japanese warmly asks for your help.
- DE Also, falls du uns helfen möchtest, jederzeit! ‘So, if you would like to help us, any time!’ German ends with an open invitation to help; English ends warning off layabouts and troublemakers.
