Steps

  1. Deliver cups of tea to the lookouts.
  2. Report to Gisilbehrt.
Journal
  1. Gisilbehrt would like to aid in your manhunt.
  2. Gisilbehrt of the Immortal Flames believes that one of his lookouts may have seen the man you seek. That they might be more forthcoming, he provides you with cups of sweet Thanalan tea to distribute among his men at the outpost to the south.
  3. Based on the scant information you acquired from the sentries, it would seem that Lahabrea is in some way connected to Little Ala Mhigo. Return to Gisilbehrt and share with him what you have learned.
  4. Who was it that was speaking with Lahabrea, and what was the nature of their conversation? If you are to make further progress in your investigation, you must somehow gain the trust of the Ala Mhigan refugees.

In-game text The tea's item text gives the full recipe: young Thanalan tea leaves, rich aldgoat cream and a spoonful of golden cactuar flower honey.
Title reference The title plays on 'Tea for Two', a famous 1924 song by Vincent Youmans. Here the tea is for three lookouts instead.

What happens in this quest spoilers for this quest
  • Gundobald: Gisilbehrt mentions him as a bristly old bear and has no doubt that he told you to leave.
  • Gisilbehrt guesses Gundobald sent you away. He says the refugees trust no one, not even his men, yet he still likes to help. He sends you with sweet Thanalan tea to his lookouts, then says you must win the refugees' trust.
  • Angry River stops you, asking if you are an Amalj'aa. Then Angry River gladly takes the tea, not having tasted sweet Thanalan for ages. To Angry River, the masked man means nothing; only the tall, scaly, lizard-faced Amalj'aa matter.

Gisilbehrt

Well met, adventurer. I'm Gisilbehrt, head of security here at Little Ala Mhigo. I heard tell that you had business with Gundobald. Knowing the bristly old bear, I don't doubt he told you to bugger off.

Owing to their hardships, the refugees don't trust anyone but themselves. Not even my men and I can get so much as a word of thanks out of them despite watching the place day and night.

But thanks or no, I try to help my fellow man when I can, and you seem a decent sort. If you tell me what's brought you here, might be as I can lend a hand.

...On the trail of a masked villain, you say? Hmmm, can't say that sounds familiar, but I have men on lookout for Amalj'aa to the south of here. If there's been any suspicious activity, they are like to have seen it.

I had a mind to take them each a cup of sweet Thanalan tea so as to lift their spirits. If you were to run this little errand in my stead, they'd be all the more willing to tell you what they know.

Deliver cups of tea to the lookouts.

Osric

Who the hells're you? I'm tryin' to conserve energy here, so leave me alone.

‘Sorry friend, but if the captain sees me chatting with an adventurer, I can say goodbye to my leave for the next two years!’ English says the soldier is conserving energy; French says being caught chatting would cost him two years' leave.
‘If the captain catches me chatting here, I can forget my home leave for the next two years!’ English says the soldier is conserving energy; German says being caught chatting would cost him two years' home leave.

Well, ain't ye considerate! My thanks, friend! ...What's that? A masked villain? Hidin' among the refugees, like as not.

Me compatriots as live here go about as though they're dead on their feet. 'Tis near impossible to tell what's on their minds. For all I know, they're all up to no good.

‘Come on, have you seen their psychopath faces!?’ English says they look dead on their feet; French says they have psychopaths' faces.
‘The people in the settlement have nothing more to expect from life.’ English has the soldier call the residents his compatriots; German just says the people in the settlement.
‘Every one of them has a face like a dead man.’ English has the soldier call the residents his compatriots; Japanese just says every one of them.

Shoo, shoo! Don't bother me! If the Amalj'aa overrun us, I'm blaming you!

‘I don't want to seem rude, but I can't let these sneaky Amalj'aa out of my sight for a single bell, you understand?’ English rudely shoos the hero away; German politely says he doesn't want to seem rude.
‘I'm sorry, but I'm on an important watch duty...’ English rudely shoos the hero away; Japanese politely apologizes for being on watch duty.

For me? You shouldn't have! ...Sorry? A suspicious masked man? As a matter of fact, I caught glimpse of someone fitting that description during patrol.

Well, I couldn't quite make out whether it was a man or not, what with the mask and the robe. But assuming it was a he, he was talking with some Ala Mhigans. I assumed he was one of them.

Angry River

You there! Are you an Amalj'aa? No? Then carry on!

  • FR T'as de la chance que j'avais pas mon épée en main, sinon tu serais déjà mort(e) à l'heure qu'il est ! ‘You're lucky I didn't have my sword in hand, otherwise you'd already be dead by now!’ English simply waves the hero on; French says the hero would be dead had his sword been in hand.

Ahhh, this sophisticated aroma! It has been forever since I had a drop of sweet Thanalan! I'm going to enjoy this!

What? A masked man? Don't know, don't care! Unless he's got dark scaly skin, stands ten fulms tall, and has the face of a lizard, then I don't give a mummer's fart!

Report to Gisilbehrt.

Gisilbehrt

Ah, you're back. So, did my lookouts have aught to share with you? ...Hmmm, that doesn't sound like much to go by.

If you're to get any further in your investigation, seems to me you'll need the cooperation of the Ala Mhigans. For this, you'll need to win their trust, and that won't be an easy task.
