In-game text The Sprite Apple text says the Greatloam Growery bred it as a tougher sister of the faerie apple that gives bigger harvests. Fawkes never says where his apples come from.
Title reference The title plays on the saying 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away', which means apples keep you healthy. Here the apples help an old farmer whose bones are too stiff to climb.

Deidra

Welcome, friend. Many of your kind come to Quarrymill seeking a respite from the hardships of adventuring. Might you care to put your troubles aside for a day and live the farmer's life?

Old Fawkes in the orchards to the north has quite a harvest on his hands this year, and knowing him, he'd be much obliged for a helping hand.

Fawkes

These bones aren't fit fer climbin' as they used to be. I'd be much obliged if you could pick some apples fer me. Oh, and you'll want to make sure no creepy-crawlies are hidin' inside. Har har!

Speak with Fawkes at the orchards.

Fawkes

What brings an adventurer to my humble orchards? Set your sights on sprite apples rather'n beastkin today? Well, I fer one am mighty grateful fer that!

  • DE Bist du hier, um von meinem köstlichen Obst zu naschen? ‘Are you here to nibble on my delicious fruit?’ English jokes you chose apples over beastkin today; German asks if you came to snack on its fruit.

Deliver your harvest to Fawkes.

Fawkes

Back so soon? Let's see what you've got in that basket o' yours.

  • DE Du pflückst ja schneller, als das Klageregiment erlaubt! ‘You pick faster than the Wood Wailers allow!’ English asks to see your basket; German jokes you pick faster than the Wood Wailers allow.

Why, I'll be─just the sight o' your harvest has me mouth waterin'. You've an eye fer apple-pickin', my friend. I've a son/daughter just around your age. What say you settle down here when you've had enough questin' fer glory?

  • DE Wenn jemand wie du eines Tages meine Plantage übernehmen würde, könnte ich ruhigen Gewissens den Löffel abgeben. ‘If someone like you took over my plantation one day, I could kick the bucket with a clear conscience.’ English mentions his son/daughter your age to hint at matchmaking; German speaks of you taking over his plantation.
