  4. Hihira is saddened to hear of the Ala Mhigans' refusal, but is not surprised. However, not one to be discouraged, she resolves to continue her efforts.
Hidden
Lore Little Ala Mhigo is a camp of refugees from Ala Mhigo. The elementals of the Twelveswood turned them away and they could not fit in with Ul'dahn ways, so they settled in southern Thanalan.
Title reference 'Bad blood' means a long grudge between people. It fits the Ala Mhigans, who would rather stay sick than take medicine that comes from Ul'dah.

What happens in this quest spoilers for this quest
  • Hihira asks you to take her medicine to three sick refugees in her place. When all three refuse it, she is sad but not surprised. She says old wounds heal slowly, and she refuses to give up.
  • Berold refuses the medicine because it comes from Ul'dah. Berold says anything would be better than that Ul'dahn swill.
  • Otelin also refuses the medicine, calls it a fake cure made by Ul'dahn quacks, and tells you to leave.

Accepting the quest

Hihira

Friend, hear my plea. As you have no doubt observed, many poor souls in this camp suffer from afflictions most grievous. Indeed, it is to deliver them succor that I have made the journey here from Ul'dah.

And yet, I fear that my efforts thus far have been for naught. The residents are most distrustful of outsiders─particularly those hailing from Ul'dah. They look upon my medicine as if it were poison.

  • DE Vielleicht gewöhnen sie sich ja langsam an unsere Gesellschaft. ‘Maybe they'll slowly get used to our company.’ English says they treat her medicine as poison; German hopes they will slowly get used to the two outsiders.

Were an adventurer such as yourself to deliver the elixir, perhaps they would be willing to accept it. I have no one else to turn to. Will you go in my stead?

Deliver Hihira's medicine to the suffering refugees.

Berold

Me throat... It burns!

Medicine, ye say? Bah! I'd sooner drink sandworm piss than that Ul'dahn swill!

  • DE Behalte dein ul'dhisches Gift ... für dich ... ‘Keep your Ul'dahn poison ... to yourself ...’ English says he would sooner drink sandworm piss; German just tells the player to keep the Ul'dahn poison.
  • JA ……そんなもん飲めるかよ……痛てて。 ‘...As if I could drink stuff like that... ow.’ English says he would sooner drink sandworm piss; Japanese just says he cannot drink such stuff.

Otelin

Hurgh... I can't...b-breathe...

Hah! Another phony elixir cooked up by those......Ul'dahn quacks? Begone from my sight!

Arcavius

What is it, outsider? Come to mock us in our suffering? Go ahead and laugh. Laugh to your heart's content.

That's what I think of you outsiders and your medicine. I'd rather die with dignity than owe my life to Ul'dah.

  • DE Ich werd dir ganz sicher nicht den Gefallen tun, dein Gewissen zu beruhigen. ‘I'm certainly not going to do you the favor of easing your conscience.’ English prefers a dignified death to owing his life to Ul'dah; German refuses to ease the player's conscience.

Report to Hihira.

Hihira

No luck, I see. Take heart, friend─you did what you could. Age-old wounds are not healed so easily, but I must not give up this cause.
