Marcette is not here, but the Wood Wailers at Dunstan's Spire know her well.
What you know from earlier quests 4
- #179 Fungal Frolic: Marcette is very proud and bossy, and treats you as one of her assistants. She orders five
toadstool caps, finds their spores much denser than before the Calamity (a past disaster), and laughs at her discovery. Then she asks who you are. - #180 Shocking Discoveries: Marcette names you Research Assistant Six and gives you a jar. She loves the
spark and threatens to shock lazy assistants with it. She plans to shock toadstools to make them multiply fast. She forgets your number and sends you away. - #181 In Too Deep: Hobriaut
calls Marcette a fiend and a monster. She sent him for three hundred
hornet stingers, then straight off to survey the
water at Hopeseed Pond. She calls her helpers by numbers, not names. - #182 Doing the Dirty Work: Marcette gives you her Breath-Be-Gone
medicine and asks you not to die, since funerals eat her budget. She finds that poisonous toadstools changed the stroper's diet and cause its stink. She even remembers you as Research Assistant Six.

- Marcette
: Thievenaix
calls Marcette a researcher of unusual creatures. He fears she would rip up every plank to reach the Shroud hares, and says she treats the Wood Wailers like her own lab assistants. - Roustebant
says few adventurers are allowed through the White Wolf Gate, and he wants you to live up to that. He sends you to Thievenaix
at Dunstan's Spire. - Thievenaix
shows you scaffolding over a hole left by Dalamud's fury, built with the Carpenters' Guild. You fix soggy planks and kill a Shroud hare. He asks you to keep the hares secret from Marcette
and keeps his distance from her.

Accepting the quest
Speak with Thievenaix
at Dunstan's Spire.
Roustebant
sent you? Thank the Twelve─I'd just about given up hope that anyone would answer our call. Tell me, did you perhaps notice that gaping hole in the ground on your way here?
Aye, 'twould be hard to miss it─one of the many remnants of Dalamud's fury. The scaffolding you see is a solution we worked up with our friends from the Carpenters' Guild, but even the sturdiest wood is at the mercy of the elements.
‘But now we lack the staff for regular maintenance.’ English says even sturdy wood is at the mercy of the elements; German says they lack staff for maintenance.
‘With the carpenters' help we somehow built scaffolding over the holes, but being short-handed, we cannot get around to maintenance checks.’ English says even sturdy wood is at the mercy of the elements; Japanese says they are too short-handed for maintenance.
The rains have fallen hard of late, and I fear there still might be some soggy planks left untended. Please see to them, as well as to any pests who have come to feast on the wood.
‘Unfortunately, there are not enough of us to take care of it.’ English blames the heavy rains of late; French says they are too few to handle it.
‘Lately it has happened more often that (pests) have nested between the planks.’ English blames the heavy rains of late; German says pests have often nested between the planks.
Inspect the scaffolding and slay any Shroud hares that appear.

Report to Thievenaix
.
You have my thanks, adventurer. A Shroud hare? I see. I ask you only this, friend: should you have occasion to meet Marcette
, speak nothing of this to her.
She is a researcher of sorts, unusual creatures being her specialty. Were she to catch wind of Shroud hares lurking beneath, she would rip up every last plank till we had nowhere to stand upon.
The woman treats us as if the Wood Wailers were her personal laboratory assistants. I will stand for this no more─I keep my distance from her, and would suggest you do the same.
‘It is also her fault that we are short of hands at the moment.’ English says Thievenaix
will stand for it no more; French blames her for their current shortage of hands. ‘That I have lately had to leave some guard posts and patrols unmanned, we owe to none other than this fine lady.’ English says Thievenaix
will stand for it no more; German blames her for posts and patrols left unmanned. ‘It is partly her fault that the Wood Wailers around here are short-handed.’ English says Thievenaix
will stand for it no more; Japanese blames her for the Wailers being short-handed.
