Costa Beach Party
Map quest, level 30. 163rd of 173 in play order.
Journal
- This evening/day finds Master Gegeruju
, the brightest jewel in the glittering high society of Costa del Sol, in an unaccountably pensive mood. - You have learned from Gegeruju
that a quartet of dancing girls who were due to arrive have not yet presented their lissome selves. The driver of their carriage is certain to be nearby. Find him and discover the whereabouts of the fair guests. - According to the driver, the dancers have gone spinning off towards the beach, exclaiming over the beauty of the sea. Track down the four girls.
- You have spoken to each of the dancers, but have found them loath to cut short their play among the surf. Bear the tale back to Master Gegeruju
. - Though you are initially fearful of the Lalafell's reaction, Gegeruju
surprises you by being completely understanding of the situation. How could any child of verdant Gridania or arid Ul'dah resist the blue ocean that cradles Costa del Sol? Always generous, Gegeruju has declared that he will wait until the girls have had their fill of the beach.

Accepting the quest
Oh, where are they? Has something─something less than delightful and more than awful─befallen the new dancing girls who were to arrive today?
- FR Et moi qui ai horreur d'attendre... ‘And me, who hates waiting... Grmbl!’ English worries that something awful befell the dancers; French grumbles that he hates waiting.
This is most inconvenient... I do so ever wish that someone would find the driver who was to bring my divine danseuses. That someone would be healthily rewarded for it, I shouldn't doubt. Ahem.
- DE Du da, lauf und hol Kunde! ‘You there, run and fetch news!’ English hints that the helper would be well rewarded; German just orders you to run and fetch news.
- JA ……誰か、やってくれんかのう~? ‘...Won't someone do it~?’ English hints that the helper would be well rewarded; Japanese only repeats "won't someone do it?" with no reward.
Find the dancing girls.
The guv'nor sent ye, did he? I was afraid he wasn't goin' to wait no more... D–Don't be givin' me the sack, now! 'Tain't my fault, I swear!
- FR Ne me tuez pas !! ‘Don't kill me!!’ English begs not to be fired; French begs not to be killed.
I brought the girls jus' like I was s'posed to. An' we got as far as here afore they caught sight o' the ocean. An' that's the moment they start cryin' like coeurls an' hoppin' like spriggans. Soon as I stopped the wagon, they were off an' runnin' to the beach!
Now, I yelled at them ladies to get back in the carriage so we could get where we were s'posed to, but they didn't pay me no never mind! You'd go talk some sense to them, wouldn't ye? Workin' stiffs, the both of us─you understand! Ye'll help me out?
- FR J-je suis trop jeune pour m-mourir !! ‘I-I'm too young to d-die!!’ English appeals to you as a fellow worker; French cries that he is too young to die.
I'm beggin' ye, tell those shimmyin' she-devils to go to the guv'nor's. I ain't gettin' the sack jus' 'cause they have a mind to build sand castles!
- DE Auf mich hören sie nicht! ‘They won't listen to me!’ English fears being sacked because of sand castles; German says the dancers won't listen to him.
Excuse me, who are you? Not the boss of me, that's right. This is my first time on the beach, and nobody's going to tell me how long I can and can't have, got it?
- FR Il paraît qu'il y a une cascade, pas loin d'ici. ‘Apparently there's a waterfall not far from here.’ English defiantly refuses to be told how long she can stay; French mentions a nearby waterfall she must find.
- DE Ich will mich noch ein bisschen umschauen! ‘I want to look around a bit more!’ English rudely says you are not her boss; German simply says she wants to look around a bit more.
I just feel so blessed to be here. This is so beautiful and inspiring, don't you think? I'm feeling so many things─I just need to drink it all in and channel it into my art.
Oh, honey...I've never seen anything like this. It's all dunes where I come from, you know. I'm sure Master Gegeruju
wouldn't mind a bit if we stretched our legs before coming to see him.
- DE Wer hat den denn hierher gebracht? ‘Who brought it here, then?’ English says she comes from a land of dunes; German asks who brought all this sand here.
Shells're right fancy 'n' pricey back home. Betcha gil to goobbue poop that I can sell a beauty like this to Master Gegeruju
. Need to find a way to get it to him, though... You go wait while I find me a wagon or some such.
- FR Je vais en ramasser encore quelques-uns et puis j'irai saluer le seigneur Gegeruju
. ‘I'll pick up a few more and then I'll go greet Lord Gegeruju
.’ English goes off to find a wagon for the shell; French will gather a few more shells. - DE Meinst du nicht, dass mir eine Muschelhalskette gut stehen würde? ‘Don't you think a shell necklace would suit me?’ English wants to sell the shell to Gegeruju
; German wonders whether a shell necklace would suit her. - JA もう少し、探してみるべ……。 ‘I'll look around a bit more...’ English goes off to find a wagon for the shell; Japanese will search for more shells.
Report to Gegeruju
.
Overcome by the ocean, are they? Seduced by the sand? With me waiting? Me, who paid so dearly to see their unparalleled undulations...? Well, how delightful! They are true artistes, as beautiful inside as they are out!
- DE Das kommt bei solchen Landpomeranzen schon mal vor. ‘That does happen now and then with such country bumpkins.’ English praises them as true artistes; German dismisses them as country bumpkins.
Gridania is green, Ul'dah is golden, but only Costa del Sol is blue and white. Yes, I should have thought of it earlier and given them leave to play upon the beach!
- DE Umso leichter sind sie später zu handhaben. ‘All the easier they will be to handle later.’ English regrets not letting them play sooner; German says letting them play makes them easier to handle later.
Ah, happy it is to be a wealthy man. I shall wait because...well, because I can! I am no drudge quaking at the sound of a master's step. Nor am I a knuckle-biter who needs a bottle of brandewine to keep the tremors at bay. I shall enjoy the anticipation and the fulfillment alike!
- FR Ah, il me tarde de voir ces belles plantes trémousser leur petit derrière devant moi... ‘Ah, I can't wait to see these beauties wiggle their little behinds in front of me...’ English says he will enjoy the waiting and the fulfillment; French says he can't wait to see them wiggle their behinds.
- DE Ja, man hat's nicht leicht als Krösus ... ‘Yes, it's not easy being a Croesus...’ English says it is happy to be wealthy; German ironically sighs that being a Croesus is not easy.
