Hidden
FF nod Chocobos are not new to FFXIV. They first appeared in Final Fantasy II in 1988 and have been in nearly every Final Fantasy game since, mostly as a way to travel.
In-game text The Chocobo Whistle text says its tone is unique and only a chocobo trained from birth to know it will hear and answer. That is why it calls your own bird.
Title reference The title plays on 'My Little Pony', the Hasbro toy line of small, colorful horses. Fitting, since this is the quest where you get a steed of your very own.

Accepting the quest

Well, if it isn't )()())/> [name]! I must say, the tales of your deeds have been an inspiration to the troops.

Want a bird issued, you say? Then I'll need to see your Storm Chocobo Issuance.

Chocobo

Kweh!

Name Your Chocobo

Name

Names must be between 2 and 20 alphabetic characters.

Our duties take us far and wide, and I'll wager you've slogged across quite a few malms of countryside on naught but your own two feet.

Such a sterling soldier of the Maelstrom deserves her/his own steed. Let us see about having one issued for you.

All you need do is obtain a Storm Chocobo Issuance by exchanging company seals with the quartermaster. Once you have this deed, present it to Fraegeim, and she will see you saddled up on one of our trusty birds.

To be issued a personal chocobo, you must first obtain a Storm Chocobo Issuance by exchanging company seals with the quartermaster. Once you have this deed, present it to Fraegeim, and she will see you saddled up on one of our trusty birds.

Yes, everything appears to be in order.

A moment please. I'll be right back with your chocobo.

And here he is! The fellow has been in high spirits the past few bells. He must have sensed that his master was coming!

  • DE Manchmal ist er etwas stürmisch, aber eigentlich ist er ein ganz Lieber. ‘Sometimes he is a bit boisterous, but really he's a sweetheart.’ English says the bird has been excited for the past few bells; German says he is sometimes boisterous but sweet.
  • DE Er wird dir ein treuer Gefährte sein. ‘He will be a loyal companion to you.’ English says the bird sensed its master was coming; German says he will be a loyal companion.

Now then, to make it official, you'll want to give your noble steed a name.

Want a bird issued, you say? Then I'll need to see your Storm Chocobo Issuance. You can get one from the storm quartermaster, over at Maelstrom Command.

Of course, you will need to exchange Storm Seals for it. You can earn these by completing tasks for the Maelstrom, Limsa Lominsa's Grand Company.

Now then, to make it official, you'll want to give your noble steed a name.

Heh heh! I daresay he likes his name!

Here is your very own chocobo whistle. Simply blow into it, and your feathered friend will come bounding to your side.

But do forgive him if he doesn't respond when summoned in crowded city areas or monster-infested lairs. Chocobos are stout-hearted creatures, but they have their limits.

And lastly, I present you with your chocobo rider's license, as is required by law.

And that concludes all the formalities! I wish you and your chocobo long years of fulfilling companionship!
