has a task for you, it seems. It is gratifying to know that at least one person in the encampment welcomes your presence. - A bird in hand may be worth two in the bush, but the surfeit of nesting dodos draws predators to the camp. You are bid to remove the nest and smite any dodos that object.
- The nest is now but a memory. Deliver word of your success to Falkbryda
. - Falkbryda
commends you on your speed, and proceeds to thank you with a tale of her encampment. Something tells you that there is still work to be done here.

Characters 2

Commander Falkbryda is at Camp Skull Valley. She wants to give you honest pay for honest work.
What you know from earlier quests 2
- #81 Mountains out of Molehills: S'nairoh
says Commander Falkbryda threatened to cut her pay if she caused another false alarm. After the hedgemole mix-up, S'nairoh expects the commander to cut it. - #82 Walk of Shame: Falkbryda has heard of your help to the Maelstrom. She dislikes that S'nairoh
did not come herself, but notes her report is honest. She calls boredom a soldier's worst enemy. She cuts S'nairoh's pay but writes no formal blame. Her name means 'Falcon Bride'.
- #81 Mountains out of Molehills: S'nairoh

What you know from earlier quests 3
- #80 Keep Your Day Job: S'nairoh talks herself through arming the cannon while you fight; her partner C'mell is missing. The 'enemy' is only newborn puks, flying beasts that never threatened Aleport. She is let down: she joined the Maelstrom to fight, not to break up brawls.
- #81 Mountains out of Molehills: S'nairoh mistakes harmless hedgemoles for an attack of adamantoises (giant tortoises) and must stand down again. She hopes to become an officer, but fears losing pay she spends on ale. Blaming too much ale-fed blood, she rushes off to be treated with leeches.
- #82 Walk of Shame: S'nairoh asks you to carry her report to Commander Falkbryda
at Camp Skull Valley. Too weak from leechings to go, she fears jail. Falkbryda says S'nairoh was once among the first promoted, but slipped at Aleport. Her pay is cut, without formal blame.

What the French and German versions say 3
French
EN Nest We Forget
FR «Trop de nids tuent les nids», 'too many nests kill the nests'
The title copies the saying «trop d'impôt tue l'impôt», 'too much tax kills tax'. Too many dodos nest at the camp, and in the end the nest is destroyed.
German
EN Nest We Forget · 'The dodos brought by settlers now run feral, and keep us in meat, eggs, and headaches.'
Not a very nice name, but luckily the camp was not named after what the dodos leave behind...'
Falkbryda
is glad the camp escaped this name. The title gives it that very name.
EN 'The nest must be removed forthwith, before it draws beasts dangerous to men as well as birds.'
Beseitige das Nest, damit die Bewohner des Camps wieder mit sauberen Schuhsohlen herumlaufen können.“, 'You see, dodos, and their young most of all, are known for a very active digestion... Remove the nest so the people of the camp can walk around with clean shoe soles again.'
Here the nest's problem is droppings, not predators.

Accepting the quest
Tarry a while, [name]. 'Twill not be said that an adventurer came to Camp Skull Valley and left without honest pay for honest work.
‘It is not every day that an adventurer as seasoned as you passes through Camp Skull Valley, and I would like to call on your services to settle a sizeable problem.’ French flatters you as a veteran and announces a big problem; English only promises honest pay for honest work.
We have a problem that other encampments may well find enviable. The dodos are so plentiful that they even nest within the barracks. The nest must be removed forthwith, before it draws beasts dangerous to men as well as birds.
‘You see, dodos, and their young most of all, are known for a very active digestion... Remove the nest so the people of the camp can walk around with clean shoe soles again.’ Here the nest's problem is droppings, not predators.
‘Dodos, and especially their young, are known for an extremely active digestion, you see ...’ English jokes other camps might envy their problem; German jokes that dodos have a very active digestion.
‘Remove the nest so that the camp's residents can walk around with clean soles again.’ English fears the nest will draw dangerous beasts; German wants residents to have clean shoe soles again.
Report to Falkbryda
.
Swiftly done! They do say that where a soldier dallies, an adventurer hurries.
- DE Das Dodo-Nest müffelt etwas ... ‘The dodo nest smells a bit ...’ English quotes a saying that adventurers hurry where soldiers dally; German says the dodo nest stinks a bit.
Peaceful as it may seem now, this encampment was built to ward against the kobolds of O'Ghomoro, to the north. We do not forget our purpose─you only need to look to our name.
‘I wonder how the former occupants put up with this dodo-sh... these dodo nests.’ English notes the camp seems peaceful now; German wonders how earlier occupants endured the dodo nests.
‘My squad was only recently transferred here, as relief.’ English says they never forget their purpose; German says her squad was only recently posted here as relief.
The valley floor was once lined with the skulls of kobolds we slew, so that no invader might reach its southern mouth and the settlements beyond without treading on death with every step.
Nowadays, it seems we are in danger of treading on dodo eggs at every turn─or on the adders that feast on them. The dodos brought by settlers now run feral, and keep us in meat, eggs, and headaches.
‘Not a very nice name, but luckily the camp was not named after what the dodos leave behind...’ Falkbryda
is glad the camp escaped this name. The title gives it that very name. ‘We went that far to defend this land for the sake of the settlers.’ English jokes about treading on dodo eggs and adders; Japanese says they defended this land for the settlers.
