Foreshadowing Staelwyrn
does not worry much about the kobolds because the Sahagin worry him more. Remember that during his main-story quests at Summerford Farms (MSQ #3-#9).

Staelwyrn is at Summerford Farms and has not yet heard of the new kobold threat.

Weitzaren runs the mills of the Grey Fleet, where kobolds are causing chaos.
What you know from earlier quests 3
- #24 Wool's Errand: Weitzaren rants that a miller with no fleece is like an artist with no canvas, and curses the lazy courier. Once the wool is his, he is delighted and laughs like a villain in a play. Now he can make his felt.
- #25 Flour Power: Weitzaren, high miller of the Grey Fleet, loves grain even more than felting wool, and makes many mill puns. He has you slay the galagos and take the
flour to Skarnmhar
at the Stead. His name means "Wheat Harvest" in the old Roegadyn language. - #28 What Goes Around: Weitzaren hopes you enjoyed the tour and were impressed. He calls the nick in Eshushu's
sail most worrisome and orders a fix at once. To him, waiting for trouble only invites trouble; the Grey Fleet stops for nothing.

Loetrswys is worried. Kobolds are causing chaos at the Grey Fleet, and Loetrswys wants help from the Red Rooster Stead.
What you know from earlier quests 1

What happens in this quest spoilers for this quest
- Staelwyrn
praises Ostfyr's
caution, but says the Sahagin swarming at his gates need his attention first. Still, he respects the Yellowjackets too much to ignore their warning, and takes it to heart. - Weitzaren
does not appear in this quest. Loetrswys
says he passes off the kobold crimes as mere mischief, and that he cares more for his mills than for his workers. - Loetrswys
complains that Weitzaren
calls the kobold crimes mere mischief and cares more for his mills than his workers. Her beloved is Moegramm
, who works at the Stead and calls her his "little lamb". She is sure he misses her. - Moegramm
agrees the kobolds are a real danger, more so since they frighten his "little lamb", whom he loves most of any soul on two legs. He writes a warning to Ostfyr
, wants the Yellowjackets called, and sends you through Blind Iron Mines. - Broenruht
says most creatures of the dark mines leave you be if you leave them be, but kobolds can be more aggressive. The route is fairly safe, and Broenruht trusts an adventurer like you to handle it. - Ostfyr
: Moegramm's
report opens Ostfyr's eyes to the kobold danger. He wants stronger patrols of the lowlands, or the region may be lost. He remembers when kobolds tried to seize the west, and asks you to warn Staelwyrn
at Summerford Farms.

Accepting the quest
The kobold crimes of late give us ample cause for concern.
‘This area has become quite dangerous. Just last week I had to watch kobolds hold up a coach and steal the entire load.’ Here too, Loetrswys
saw kobolds rob a coach. The English stays vague. ‘Why, a few days ago I even saw a c-cart being attacked by K-Kobolds!’ French gives a concrete incident: days ago she saw Kobolds attack a cart. English stays general.
‘Only last week I had to watch kobolds ambush a coach and steal the entire load.’ German gives a concrete incident: last week she watched kobolds rob a coach of its whole load.
‘Lately this area has become dangerous too... just the other day I saw a cart being attacked by kobolds.’ Japanese gives a concrete incident: she recently saw kobolds attack a cart. English stays general.
Yet Weitzaren
is content to pass them off as mere mischief-making. He cares more for the welfare of his mills than that of his workers.
‘It worries me so much I can hardly focus on my work, b-but Weitzaren
says there's no risk and r-refuses to do anything at all...’ English accuses Weitzaren
of valuing his mills over his workers; French says he refuses to do anything.
‘Weitzaren
, the fool, still finds it all completely harmless and sees absolutely no need to act.’ English accuses Weitzaren
of valuing his mills over his workers; German says he sees no need to act. ‘And yet Weitzaren
only says carefree things like "it's fine" and won't take me seriously.’ English accuses Weitzaren
of valuing his mills over his workers; Japanese says he will not take her seriously.
If only my beloved, Moegramm
, knew of my plight, I am certain he would leap to my rescue all the way from his post at the Red Rooster Stead.
‘Adventurer, could you tell this to my darling, Moegramm
, at the Red Rooster Stead?’
‘You're an adventurer, aren't you? W-would you mind warning my husband, Moegramm
, at the Red Rooster f-farm, please?’ Like in Japanese, they are plainly married.
He often calls me his “little lamb,” and I am certain my absence could only have made his heart grow fonder.
‘I'm sure that he will do s-something!’ English hopes her absence made his heart grow fonder; French is sure he will do something.
- DE Auf ihn ist Verlass. ‘He can be relied on.’ English says he calls her his "little lamb"; German says he is reliable.
- DE Er wird sicher sofort etwas unternehmen! ‘He will surely do something right away!’ English hopes her absence made his heart grow fonder; German is sure he will act at once.
‘My beloved darling is someone I can rely on, so... surely he'll do something about it right away.’ English says he calls her his "little lamb"; Japanese says her darling is reliable.
Speak to Moegramm
Indeed, the kobolds' steady incursions warrant wariness.
And now they frighten my poor little lamb, the soul I love more than any other on two legs! We must summon the Yellowjackets at once.
‘For the sake of my beloved wife, I'd like to petition the Yellowjackets... but there are no guards at this Red Rooster Stead.’ So Moegramm
and Loetrswys
are married. The English never says so. ‘I would gladly alert the Yellowjackets to calm my frightened wife, but sadly no troops are camped at our humble Red Rooster farm.’
‘Of course I'd like to send a whole unit of Yellowjackets at once to help my beloved wife, but sadly no soldiers are stationed here at the Gockelburg.’
Speak to Broenruht
You'll find most denizens of the dark will leave you be so long as you extend them the same courtesy, but kobolds can be a bit more belligerent. Still, nothing an adventurer of your venturesomeness can't handle, I suppose.
- DE Vor denen solltest du dich in Acht nehmen. ‘You should be on your guard against them.’ English shrugs that an adventurer can surely handle the kobolds; German warns you to be on guard.
‘Be very careful going through.’ English shrugs that an adventurer can surely handle the kobolds; Japanese urges you to be very careful.
- FR Fais toutefois attention aux Kobolds. ‘Do watch out for the Kobolds, though.’ French ends on a warning that the ever more numerous Kobolds are aggressive; English ends by saying you can handle them.
Deliver the
report on kobolds to Ostfyr
They say a messenger through the mines arrives faster than the crow flies from the Stead. It is good to see you.
- FR Tu m'apportes quelque chose ? ‘Are you bringing me something?’ English quips that a messenger through the mines beats the crow; French just asks if you bring something.
- DE Hm, hast du etwas für mich? ‘Hm, do you have something for me?’ English quips that a messenger through the mines beats the crow; German just asks if you have something for him.
‘Hmm, do you have some delivery for me?’ English quips that a messenger through the mines beats the crow; Japanese just asks if you bring a delivery.
Should we fail to bolster our patrols of the La Noscean lowlands now, we stand to lose the region altogether.
I have not forgotten when the kobolds sought to seize the west. 'Twould be best those there know their former nemesis has resurfaced.
‘Speaking of the kobolds, they used to launch attacks from the Western La Noscea side...’ English says the kobolds once sought to seize the west; Japanese says they once attacked from the western side.
Speak to Staelwyrn
Ostfyr's
prudence befits his post. The watchman's always seen threats far over the horizon.
- FR Ostfyr
‘Hello, [name]. Ostfyr
sent you to ask me to watch for the slightest Kobold movement around here, you say?’ English praises Ostfyr's
prudence as fitting his post; French asks if Ostfyr really sent you about the kobolds. - DE Ostfyr
meint also, die Kobolde könnten uns Ärger machen? ‘So Ostfyr
thinks the Kobolds could make trouble for us?’ English praises Ostfyr's
prudence as fitting his post; German asks if Ostfyr thinks the kobolds could cause trouble. - DE Das sollen sie ruhig mal versuchen! ‘Just let them try!’ English remarks the watchman always sees distant threats; German defiantly dares the kobolds to try.
‘Ostfyr
of the Yellowjackets said to watch out for kobold movements?’ English praises Ostfyr's
prudence as fitting his post; Japanese asks in surprise if Ostfyr said to watch the kobolds.
Which is all well and good, but the Sahagin swarmin' at our gates demand my immediate attention before ugly heads that haven't reared themselves in recent memory.
Still, I know better than to disregard the biddin' of the Yellowjackets.
