Accepting the quest
Now, having set aside the formalities...
‘Now, since we have welcomed our new comrades...’ English says the formalities are set aside; German says the new comrades have now been welcomed.
‘Well then, now that our companions have grown in number...’ English says the formalities are set aside; Japanese says their group of companions has just grown.
...We have a favor to ask of you.
Our task was to survey the behavior of the sylphs, a beast tribe indigenous to the Twelveswood.
Oh, how to describe them... They look like...
gysahl greens? Floating ones! That worship the primal Ramuh.
Ahem. Though technically a “beast tribe,” sylphs are blessed with a comparatively personable demeanor, conducive to peaceful communication.
While Ramuh's existence is well documented, the sylphs do not─or perhaps, can not─summon the primal any longer, insofar as can be ascertained. Until such time as we know...
‘Ramuh's existence has been established for a very long time, but he has never yet been seen in Eorzea.’ English says the sylphs no longer summon Ramuh; French says Ramuh has never been seen in Eorzea.
...It would be unwise to assume that the threat posed by the primal has passed.
‘Is he so terrifying that these creatures have never dared to summon him?’ English warns the primal's threat may not have passed; French wonders if Ramuh is so terrifying the sylphs never dared summon him.
Which leaves Gridania with the added worry of not knowing what they should be worrying about!
‘The Gridanians are now racking their brains over whether they must take action against Ramuh.’ English jokes that Gridania worries without knowing what to worry about; German says Gridanians wonder whether to act against Ramuh.
‘For Gridania, I bet how to deal with this primal Ramuh is a real dilemma.’ English jokes that Gridania worries without knowing what to worry about; Japanese says Gridania is torn over how to deal with Ramuh.
In that regard, they are hardly alone. What we can say with absolute certainty is that Gridania has its hands full fending off Garuda.
Who, I need hardly remind you, is among the most savage and terrible of all known primals.
In short, it is essential that we approach the sylphs in as diplomatic a manner as possible.
Words and actions can be misconstrued. The only sure way to communicate our intentions is the Echo.
Winning the sylphs' favor may well bring us a step closer to mitigating the threat of the primals. Will you help us?
I am grateful.
Lovely! Well, as much as I'd like to help, I'm afraid I would be of little use to anyone in Gridania. A veritable babe in the woods.
Yda
and Papalymo
, however, should be able to see the forest for the trees. Is that not so, Minfilia
?
- FR Aucun problème ! ‘No problem!’ English has Papalymo
stress that the task is for both of them; French simply agrees. - DE Selbstverständlich! ‘Of course!’ English has Papalymo
stress that the task is for both of them; German simply agrees. ‘Certainly!’ English has Papalymo
stress that the task is for both of them; Japanese simply agrees.
We know far too little of the sylphs to lay any worthwhile plans. We must call upon the Scions once more if we are to─
Ah, beg pardons. 'Tis a terrible habit of mine to think aloud. But tell me, what brings you to the Adders' Nest?
