What you know from earlier quests 15
    • #99 The Scions of the Seventh Dawn: She welcomes you home after five years, as Louisoix said. The Scions protect Eorzea from the primals, godlike beings. Your power, the Echo, shows people's pasts and lets you understand any speech. She has it too, asks your help, and shares the password "wild rose."
    • #100 A Wild Rose by Any Other Name: Minfilia welcomes you to the Scions and introduces its leaders. She thinks people forget you because of the power Louisoix used to save your life. She asks you to lead an investigation into crimes in Ul'dah that may involve a primal, a godlike being.
    • #101 Unsolved Mystery: Isembard says Minfilia names the Amalj'aa as the culprits behind the disappearances, so he advises you to look into them first.
    • #106 Dressed to Deceive: Thancred sends you to report to Minfilia. She praises your work and says only the Amalj'aa know where the abducted were taken. She fears blood must be spilled before this is over.
    • #107 Life, Materia and Everything: Minfilia lends you a dagger to take to Mutamix. She admires how much one piece of materia improves it, and urges you to use materia, since good gear can decide victory or defeat. She then turns to your next mission.
    • #108 Lord of the Inferno: Minfilia is relieved to see you safe. With Thancred, she explains that primals feed on crystals and worship. She says those with the Echo, like you, cannot be tempered, or forced to serve a primal. She leaves out the captives' fate.
    • #111 A Hero in the Making: Minfilia warns that fame has a price. Officers from all three Grand Companies (city armies) come to recruit you. She urges you to join one for safety among friends, gives you a linkpearl to keep in touch, and hopes you still aid the Scions.
    • #113 Till Sea Swallows All: Minfilia calls you by linkpearl to congratulate you on joining the Maelstrom. She reminds you that you are still a Scion and asks you back to the Waking Sands. There she says Biggs and Wedge are now under the Scions' protection.
    • #114 Sylph-management: Minfilia explains a study of the sylphs, a beast tribe of the Twelveswood, done for the Order of the Twin Adder. She wants a peaceful approach. She asks you to use the Echo, the only sure way to show your intentions.
    • #134 Believe in Your Sylph: Yda says she and Papalymo are going back to the Waking Sands to tell Minfilia all about the talks with the sylphs. Papalymo promises to mention the part you played.
    • #135 Back from the Wood: Minfilia praises your work and reviews the primals left to watch. Hearing of Lahabrea, she is alarmed that the Ascians no longer hide, and wants him investigated. She is glad the Scions' family grows, yet feels deep foreboding.
    • #136 Shadow of Darkness: Minfilia fears the Ascians are behind the chaos in the realm. She asked each Grand Company for help, and the Immortal Flames answered. She sends you to Commander Swift in Ul'dah and asks you to be careful.
    • #142 Foot in the Door: Minfilia feels for the Ala Mhigan refugees, who lost their homeland two decades ago and now face poverty and unfair treatment. She thinks only taking back their home would truly help. She offers to introduce you to an Ala Mhigan among the Scions.
    • #143 Meeting with the Resistance: Minfilia tells you about Haribehrt, who joined the Scions hoping to free his homeland. She is sure he is glad to help, and sends you to the storage area, where he rests between missions.
    • #151 Back to Square One: Minfilia hears how the young ones were taught summoning and sees the kind of deception the Ascians use. She believes some troubles come from someone evil, not only the Calamity, and wants to dig deeper. Then she agrees to rest awhile.
  • Medrod

Medrod is a miner at Fallgourd Float in the North Shroud. Word has it that he met a scary masked man in the wood.

Minfilia

While you were tending to business in Thanalan, some new information arrived courtesy of our friends the sylphs.

An individual fitting Lahabrea's description has been sighted in the North Shroud. This sighting comes in the wake of a series of mysterious deaths in the selfsame area. My instincts tell me that our man is involved.

I would have you continue your investigation where you left off. Twelve willing, we will pick up Lahabrea's trail once more.

Noraxia can furnish you with the details. Pray speak with her, and take it from there. As always, be careful out there, [name].

Speak with Noraxia.

Noraxia

Walking one is to investigate sinister one? Then heed well this one's words.

This one is friends with a walking one in the Ashcrown Consortium. According to friendly one, a digging one named Medrod had an encounter with a scary masked one. This masked one is most certainly sinister one!

Walking one should go and speak with digging one Medrod. Digging one is to be found at Fallgourd Float in the North Shroud.

Speak with Medrod at Fallgourd Float.

Medrod

P-Please leave me be... I'm not long for this world...

I...I looked death in the face... 'Tis only a matter of time before he comes for me, just like he came for that poor woman...

Try to /soothe Medrod.

Medrod

Mummyyy! I'm sorry I wasn't a better son! I'm sorry I didn't eat my greens and do my chores! Waaaaaah!

‘I should have listened to you and studied to become a gelder...’ English regrets not eating his greens and doing chores; French regrets not studying to become a gelder.
‘Is this the punishment for always secretly snacking on Schokobos?!’ English regrets not eating his greens and doing chores; German wonders if it is punishment for secretly snacking on Schokobos.

...Y-You're right. It's not as bad as it seems. I saw something terrible, that's true, but that hardly means I'm going to suffer the same fate. Thanks to you, I can think straight again. I believe I can even recount what I saw without losing it.

It was just another ordinary day. I was headed back to the Float when I noticed a suspicious character in the distance─a masked man garbed head to toe in black. He had a hideous fiend in tow, a winged creature that was all eyeball and jagged teeth. Taken by curiosity, I crept as near as I dared...

‘It was after work, I was walking in the wood when suddenly I noticed a man dressed in black with a winged creature that had an eye as big as an adamantoise egg.’ English says the creature was all eyeball and jagged teeth; French says its eye was as big as an adamantoise egg.
‘All in black and the face hidden under a large hood.’ English describes a masked man; German describes a figure whose face is hidden under a large hood.
‘Finding it creepy, when I looked toward where it had come from...’ English says he crept closer out of curiosity; Japanese says he looked toward where the man had come from.

...To see the corpse of a woman! One glimpse was enough to tell me that she'd died a gruesome death!

In that instant, I knew right away that the masked man was a minion of Thal, come to claim her soul for His realm.

‘At that moment, I realized that this guy was Death in person!’ English calls the masked man a minion of Thal; French says he was Death in person.
‘And it was immediately clear to me: this figure in the robe - the face hidden behind a mask - could only be an angel of death who had come to claim the woman's soul!’ English calls the masked man a minion of Thal; German calls him an angel of death.
‘I realized right away... that the "masked man" leading the monster had to be a god of death!’ English calls the masked man a minion of Thal; Japanese calls him a god of death.

What!? You're investigating this same masked man!?

Aideen

If that's the case, we'll help you in whatever way we can!

Ivaurault

Aye, anything to ensure that we won't have to suffer Medrod's hysteria ever again.

‘With Medrod moping all this time, our idle chatter has really piled up.’ English wants to avoid Medrod's hysteria; Japanese says their idle chatter piled up while Medrod moped.

Medrod

All right, teamwork! That's what I wanted to─wait, I haven't been that bad, have I...? At any rate, I'm all for helping this adventurer. It's the least I can do to repay her/him for comforting me!

  • DE Hehe, charmant wie eh und je, was? ‘Heh, charming as ever, eh?’ English Medrod wonders if he was really that bad; German Medrod sarcastically calls his friends charming as ever.
‘Heh, you guys... you're the best!’ English Medrod wonders if he was really that bad; Japanese Medrod praises his friends.
