Cloying Victory

Rogue class quest, level 30. 165th of 178 in play order.

Quest giver: Jacke, Dutiful Sisters of the Edelweiss (X 6.0, Y 6.1).

Next: Peasants by Day, Ninjas by Night ›

Steps

  1. Keep watch from your position at the Aftcastle.
  2. Speak with Jacke at the Rogues' Guild.
Journal
  1. Jacke needs you to join his rogues in the effort to reclaim the Black Sarcophagus.
  2. Jacke has decided that a net of rogues cast over the city is the only way to catch the Reformists before they can go through with their murderous plan. Take up your position at the Aftcastle, and stay vigilant for any signs of Aisibhir and his crew.
  3. Slipping past the vigilant gazes of rogues and Yellowjackets alike, the Reformists manage to reach the Mizzenmast and prime the Black Sarcophagus to explode. With scant moments left until the mine is set to detonate, however, you manage to disable the device and save the city from untold destruction. Aisibhir and his crew are defeated, and the prototype weapon once again safe in the hands of the Yellowjackets. As for Milala's challenge, Jacke's keen ears and nimble fingers have allowed the impudent guildmaster to liberate the Silver Sorrows from the ailing and unsuspecting captain. Thus do the rogues end the contest with two of the three treasures, ensuring victory for the guild. Return to the Dutiful Sisters and speak with Jacke.
  4. Appearing glad to see the difficult and lengthy assignment come to an end, Jacke praises your unrelenting dedication to the code. Should you choose to leave the shadows of the underworld, however, he suggests that you devote yourself to a code of your own, and employ your deadly new skills to uphold it. Though your eyes may readjust to the light of day, the lessons learned at the Dutiful Sisters will never leave you.
Hidden
Easter egg Jacke calls himself 'a dimber damber'. In old thieves' cant that is the chief rogue of a gang, a fitting name for the guildmaster.
Easter egg Jacke says you will 'walk back into the lightmans'. In old thieves' cant 'lightmans' means the day, so he means stepping out of the shadows into daylight.
Easter egg The Smirking Lalafell's taunt that Milala is blind to 'the chasm openin' up at yer feet' echoes the black marketeer's warning in 'Sweet Sorrows' about 'the holes at your feet'.
Patch change The Rogue class and its quests came with patch 2.4. It is the only class not added at the launch of an expansion, which is why you cannot pick it when you make a character.
Title reference 'Cloying' normally means sickly sweet. But in the old thieves' cant the rogues speak, to 'cloy' means to steal, and the guild wins the contest by stealing the earrings.
Characters 10
  • Yellowjacket

This Yellowjacket is a sergeant serving under Captain Milala during the night watch in the city.

  • Reyner Hansred

Reyner Hansred is mentioned as Commodore Reyner, a senior Yellowjacket officer.

What you know from earlier quests 5
    • #71 Victory in Peril: Ghimthota mentions him at the end: the captured pirates go to the Yellowjackets, and "Reyner's men" now take over the investigation. So Reyner commands men of the Yellowjackets.
    • #73 Feint and Strike: Reyner trusts Baderon, who is "rarely wrong," but a Sahagin attack on South Tidegate takes his troops. He sends you to Swiftperch instead, wishing the Warriors of Light still walked among them. Afterward he praises you warmly and presents Admiral Merlwyb.
    • #74 High Society: Reyner says few get this honor, not even the Admiral's officers, but you earned it. He sends you to Baderon for proper clothes. He was never a pirate; he began as an officer under his teacher, Commodore Sthalmann. He cares for an old cat.
    • #93 I Hereby Relieve You: Falkbryda reads his dispatch. He has hired an adventurer "of excellent repute and pleasing manner" to finish the Seagrot work, and that adventurer is you. Like Falkbryda, he feels their forces are spread too thin.
    • #97 It's Probably Pirates: He reports a strange ship seen near the Isles of Umbra. His patrol found only a family of coeurls (wild beasts) in Sastasha, but he wants it searched again. With the Sahagin testing his defenses daily, he cannot spare men, so he asks you.
  • I'tolwann

I'tolwann is at the Wench in the Mizzenmast tower while the rogues spread out to watch the city.

What you know from earlier quests 2
    • #54 A Dainty Dilemma: I'tolwann is one of the guild's spies. Asking her for weak ale is a secret rogue signal. She names the thieves: the Dainty Demolishers, former pirates who sell stolen Garlean machines to goblins in Summerford.
    • #96 Rising to the Challenge: She found a well-worn journal left by a first-time customer, a stranger who loved his drink. She sends you to the regular Quentenain, who drank with him. She would offer you a free drink, but Baderon docked her wages last time.
  • Jacke

Jacke wants to stop Captain Aisibhir before the Reformists use the Black Sarcophagus to blow up the Admiral's command room.

What you know from earlier quests 9
    • #52 My First Daggers: Jacke asks if you are a pirate, then explains the job. Rogues enforce an old code in Limsa's back alleys: never rob fellow Lominsans, cheat a crew, or trade people. He gives you daggers and says to dress light.
    • #53 Stabbers in Yer Fambles: Jacke sends you to fight lambs, rats and pugils, one at a time. He says a rogue is a dancer, not a butcher. Speed, precision and light gear matter more than force. He may have a job for you.
    • #54 A Dainty Dilemma: Jacke explains privateers: pirates licensed to loot only imperial ships. He pairs you with Underfoot to recover a stolen firing mechanism. The Dainty Demolishers mistake him for an errand boy. He then tells how the Upright Thieves became the Rogues' Guild.
    • #55 Stray into the Shadows: Jacke sends you after stolen muskets meant for the Yellowjackets, with V'kebbe as partner. He secretly ate her egg sandwich. When Underfoot gives him away, V'kebbe strings him up. He says real code breakers suffer far worse.
    • #78 Stifled Screams: Jacke takes a secret job from Maelstrom Command against the Jolly Merchants, pirate slavers. He says the code is harsh on those who hurt the weak. He works with you to free the captives in Aleport and teaches you to throw daggers.
    • #79 Slave to the Code: Jacke guesses the slavers hide at the Flock and fights them with you. He tells a freed boy not to be like him and explains the code. He resents Milala's challenge but accepts it, since the theft breaks the code. He teaches you Mug.
    • #113 Grinners in the Mist: Jacke complained about the contest, but the officials did not care, so he plays to win. With you and V'kebbe he raids the Curs' ship in the Doxy's Pull and takes the Cerulean Star. He stops Milala shooting the Curs and fears the Executioners.
    • #143 Sweet Sorrows: Jacke says the Reformists, a faction of the Bloody Executioners, hold the treasures, and he means to punish them for breaking the code. He tells V'kebbe he needs her and raids the deal, but Milala takes the earrings. He does not give up.
    • #164 Market for Death: Jacke suspects the Reformists stole the bomb to use it, not sell it. An ambush at Thalaos shows they target the Admiral. He defends the code to a pirate, takes her prisoner, sends you to warn Milala, and decides to rally the rogues.
  • Perimu Haurimu

Perimu Haurimu is with the rogues spread through the city, watching for Aisibhir and the bomb.

What you know from earlier quests 6
    • #54 A Dainty Dilemma: Underfoot is reluctant to guide a new recruit but agrees. Jacke calls him one of the best. He teaches you to dodge, sends you to I'tolwann for news, watches the goblin camp, and lets you take the credit.
    • #55 Stray into the Shadows: Jacke sends Underfoot to fetch a fresh sandwich from the Bismarck, a restaurant. He returns and blurts out that Jacke ate a fellow rogue's supper. He calls V'kebbe's punishment the swiftest string-up he has seen.
    • #78 Stifled Screams: Underfoot is angry that pirates rob honest folk and trade in slaves. Jacke sends him with V'kebbe to help the Maelstrom find the villagers already sold.
    • #79 Slave to the Code: Perimu Haurimu, known as Underfoot, arrives at the Flock with V'kebbe as backup. He jokes that he is here to get underfoot, but no slavers are left standing. After Milala's challenge, he asks Jacke what comes next.
    • #113 Grinners in the Mist: Perimu Haurimu names the three treasures: the Cerulean Star, the Silver Sorrows and the Black Sarcophagus. He suspects the seized cargo is a decoy, pays a black marketeer he knows, and learns the Curs hide in the Doxy's Pull. Then he follows a new lead.
    • #164 Market for Death: Perimu reveals the Black Sarcophagus is a Garlean prototype magitek mine, a bomb strong enough to destroy a behemoth. He knows the Curs gave it to the Reformists, but not where it is now. Jacke sends him and V'kebbe to find it.
  • V'kebbe

V'kebbe is with the rogues, ready to stop Aisibhir and get back the Black Sarcophagus.

What you know from earlier quests 7
    • #54 A Dainty Dilemma: When the Dainty Demolishers barge into the guild, V'kebbe starts to explain that the doorman lets in only clients, recruits and one other sort. The captain cuts her off, and a fight starts.
    • #55 Stray into the Shadows: V'kebbe, the Stray, is the guild's best at sneaking. She teaches you to hide and listen, plans the theft at the pier, and leads the guards away. Learning Jacke ate her sandwich, she strings him up. Limsa is her home.
    • #78 Stifled Screams: Jacke sends V'kebbe and Underfoot to help the Maelstrom track the villagers already sold. She offers to join you and Jacke if you need extra hands.
    • #79 Slave to the Code: V'kebbe arrives with Perimu Haurimu to back you up at the Flock, but the slavers are already beaten. When Milala scolds the guild, V'kebbe is puzzled and asks Jacke what she wants with them.
    • #113 Grinners in the Mist: V'kebbe brings news that stolen cargo turned up at the La Thagran Checkpoint. She explains the Grinning Curs broke off from the Salthounds pirates. On the Curs' ship she finds the Cerulean Star, a large blue diamond, but not the other two treasures.
    • #143 Sweet Sorrows: V'kebbe fears a war with the Bloody Executioners and begs Jacke to quit. The guild took her in as a pirate stray, so she tries to steal the earrings alone to protect it. Jacke's words win her back, and she promises her blades.
    • #164 Market for Death: V'kebbe now sees why the thalassocracy, Limsa Lominsa's government, bid so eagerly for the item at auction and kept its details secret. Jacke sends V'kebbe and Perimu to keep searching for the sarcophagus.
  • Milala

Milala wants more Yellowjackets on the streets to protect the city from the Reformists.

What you know from earlier quests 5
    • #55 Stray into the Shadows: Milala is unhappy that the Yellowjackets now owe the Rogues' Guild a debt, and wishes the rogues were jailed next to the thieving pirates.
    • #79 Slave to the Code: Milala comes to lead the freed villagers to safety. She calls the rogues no better than pirates and wants all piracy gone. She challenges the guild to a race for three stolen treasures; if she wins, she seeks to close the guild.
    • #113 Grinners in the Mist: Milala orders every cart checked, but the Curs fool her with a decoy. At the docks she wants the Curs shot, and Jacke asks her to arrest them instead. She calls the rogues pirates and vows to claim the last two treasures.
    • #143 Sweet Sorrows: Milala buys news from the black marketeer through a disguised soldier. She takes the Silver Sorrows with the Admiral's order and arrests the Reformists' accountant. She swore on her sisters' graves to end piracy and vows to see the guild torn down.
    • #164 Market for Death: Milala first thinks you came to steal the Sorrows, earrings she wears. Hearing of the plot against the Admiral, she orders more sentries at once. She says the challenge still stands, but sends Jacke her thanks for the warning.
  • Bochard

Bochard is a man you meet in the city while you keep watch for the Reformists.

  • Drunken Stag

The Drunken Stag is a very drunk man wandering the city at night, afraid of his wife's anger after too many bottles.

  • Lonwoerd

What you know from earlier quests 3
    • #6 Edelweiss, Edelweiss: Lonwoerd tells visitors without proper business to go away. He opens the Brugaire Consortium's gift of walnut bread, ginger cookies and sandwiches, and saves some for himself. He says the Sisters are always there if J'nasshym's boss needs them again.
    • #52 My First Daggers: Lonwoerd praises your courage and sends you inside to Jacke, the guild's master. Jacke calls him Lonny Left-patch and says his one eye is good at judging new recruits, even if he throws blades badly.
    • #164 Market for Death: Lonwoerd brings Jacke an urgent letter he found in the deliveries. It seems to come from the old man, the black marketeer, asking them to Thalaos. The letter is really an Executioner trap. Jacke calls him Lonny.
What happens in this quest spoilers for this quest

  • Drunken Stag: The Drunken Stag stumbles on the wounded Milala and takes her for a dead body. When she moves and begs for help, he panics and insists he saw nothing.

Accepting the quest

Jacke

If the leader o' the Reformists─this “Captain Aisibhir”─is plannin' on millin' the Admiral with a bang, then my guess is he'll be aimin' to demolish the entire command room.

Make for the Mizzenmast an' find Aisibhir!

[name], mill all them detonators! We'll keep these coves busy!

The bomb! We're too late...

That's the bomb taken care of, then. Now these bastards get our full attention!

The job... We was almost done...

Bene! Ye know how I hate trackin' down stragglers!

  • FR Venez par ici que je vous fasse tâter de mes lames ! ‘Come over here so I can let you taste my blades!’ English jokes that he hates tracking down stragglers; French invites the enemies to taste his blades.
  • DE Bleibt dran, Freunde! ‘Yes, good! Keep at it, friends!’ English jokes that he hates tracking down stragglers; German urges his friends to keep at it.

Perimu Haurimu

So many of 'em... I think their whole bloody crew is here!

Find an' smash them detonators! Check the ramps goin' up, an' goin' down!

The light on the mine went out!

Try not to trip...over me quarron...

  • FR Je n'ai pas été... à la hauteur... ‘... I wasn't... up to it...’ English jokes about the others tripping over his body; French says he was not up to it.
  • DE T-Tut mir leid ... ich bin zu schwach ... ‘S-sorry ... I'm too weak ...’ English jokes about the others tripping over his body; German apologizes for being too weak.
  • JA っ……すみません……足手纏いだったみたいです……。 ‘Ngh... sorry... it seems I was a burden...’ English jokes about the others tripping over his body; Japanese apologizes for having been a burden.

V'kebbe

What!? That's it, then!?

[name]'s disabled the sarcophagus!

I guess I have...gotten soft...

Ye can't stop us now, scrags! Only three minutes until the show begins!

Damn you rogues an' yer swivin' code! I'll have yer bloody 'eads for this!

This wasn't...part o' me plan... I could've been a king among pirates...

Jacke

Ye know the Mizzenmast, aye? The tower what holds the Drownin' Wench an' Bulwark Hall? The Admiral's Bridge─an' her command room─are right at the top of it.

Then ye've got the district what surrounds the Mizzenmast─that's the busy beatin' heart o' the city. Even with the threat of an attack, ye can't just seal it up in the blink of an eye an' call the whole thing bob. Try to explain the danger to the culls what live an' work there, an' then ye'd have a frightened, stampedin' mob on yer fambles.

Nay, lass/lad, our only option is to have eyes snilchin' every approach to the tower. I'll put the whid out to as many coves as I can, an' spread 'em through the streets.

Yer job'll be to cover the Aftcastle. Just wait an' see, [name]─we'll get this Aisibhir...an' his little bomb, too!

Keep watch from your position at the Aftcastle.

Defeat the Reformists, and prevent the explosion!

Destroy detonators

Find and destroy the detonators before time runs out!

Defeat the Reformists!

Speak with Jacke at the Rogues' Guild.

Jacke

Take up a vantage point at the Aftcastle. One of us'll spot Aisibhir, an' then he'll learn what it means to defy the code!

  • FR Nous devons à tout prix mettre la main sur le Cercueil noir, ou nous n'aurons plus que nos yeux pour pleurer, si nous avons encore des yeux ! ‘We must get our hands on the Black Coffin at all costs, or we will have nothing left but our eyes to cry with, if we still have eyes!’ English promises Aisibhir will learn what defying the code means; French warns they will be left weeping, if they still have eyes.

Bochard

Ye all right, then, dove/colt? Ye seem set to fly to pieces. But it's times like this that ye most need to calm yer mind, an' keep yer glazes peeled for the small stuff.

Lonwoerd

I'tolwann

The Reformists are planning to blow up the command room!? I'll be sure to keep an eye out for any unusual customers here at the Wench. ...Well, more unusual than usual.

Jacke

Ugh, the fog picked a grand night to roll in thick. This'll make things interestin'...

Milala

Our presence on the streets is far too thin! Where are the reinforcements I ordered!?

Yellowjacket

My apologies, Captain. There just aren't any more soldiers to spare. The bulk of our forces has already been assigned to guard not only the Admiral, but a number of other high-ranking personnel, as well.

Milala

Unacceptable! What could Commodore Reyner be thinking? There are dangerous criminals stalking the city as we speak!

  • FR Hansred a un pois chiche à la place du cerveau ou quoi ? ‘Does Hansred have a chickpea in place of a brain, or what?’ English wonders what Commodore Reyner is thinking; French asks if Hansred has a chickpea for a brain.

Call in squads from the outposts if you must, but I want to see our security tightened and the populace properly protected!

  • DE Wir brauchen hier jeden Mann und jede Frau, um das Attentat zu verhindern! ‘We need every man and every woman here to prevent the assassination!’ English wants the populace properly protected; German wants everyone there to prevent the assassination.

Yellowjacket

But, Captain... We can't be certain the pirates' plan hasn't changed. If we consider the possibility that they've switched to a target outside the walls, it would be folly to weaken those defenses...

  • FR Si ces criminels décidaient de changer leurs plans à la dernière minute et que l'Amirale se trouvait sans défense, nous aurions à endosser la responsabilité de... ‘If these criminals decided to change their plans at the last minute and the Admiral were left defenceless, we would have to bear the responsibility for...’ English fears a switch to a target outside the walls; French fears the Admiral being left defenceless.

Milala

Hmph! You've made your point, Sergeant. Return to your post!

  • FR Taisez-vous, vous me fatiguez ! ‘Be quiet, you tire me!’ English concedes the sergeant made his point; French rudely tells him to be quiet.

Once all is lost, it is far too late to question what one should have done...

You seem troubled, sir. Perhaps I can be of assis─

Ah!

Smirking Lalafell: I've been dyin' to meet you, lass. Aye, keen to set eyes on the bold Yellowbelly what cost our crew a fortune in Ul'dahn coin.

Milala

You... You're an Executioner! One of Aisibhir's men!

Ye've strayed too far into a world ye don't understand, lass. Yer eyes is fixed on the light o' justice, leavin' ye blind to the chasm openin' up at yer feet...

  • FR Puisque tu sembles en être éprise à ce point, laisse-moi te montrer notre conception de la justice... ‘Since you seem so taken with it, let me show you our idea of justice...’ English says justice blinds her to the chasm at her feet; French offers to show her their idea of justice.

At least they'll say ye died with yer boots on.

The Yellowbelly won't be botherin' us no more, Cap'n. As for the mine, the lads'll 'ave it primed in front o' the Wench by the time ye get there.

Aisibhir

Good. Not long now afore we drag that bitch Admiral, her pretty tower, an' all her simperin' curs down to the bottom o' the sea...

Then I'll raise our flag on the ruins o' the Mizzenmast, an' lead our brethren in a return to the old ways o' blood an' plunder!

Drunken Stag

Should not've 'ad that lasht bottle... ...Bottlesh? The wife ish gonna... ...kill me...

...Eh? What'sh that, then?

Milala

...Not after...the command room... They mean to bring down...the entire...tower...

If the Mizzenmast falls... The bridges...will follow... Half the city will...

P-Please... You must help me... The danger... Far greater than we...

Drunken Stag

Bloody hells! It'sh alive! Oh no, no, no, I didn't shee nuffin'! Didn't. Shee. Nuffin'!

Milala

Please! You must...send word...

Someone...must be told...

You... How did you...?

Jacke

Yer “valiant an' forthright” weapon─ye could hear that single pistol shot from malms away. Weren't hard to guess what'd happened.

Perimu Haurimu

I poked the Yellowjackets on me way over. A healer'll be along shortly.

Jacke

Bene. That means we've only one last thing to do.

Milala

We have never...been allies... But I beg of you...

You must... You must stop them! ...Save the city!

Jacke

Ah, lass, ye know ye don't need to ask. Takin' down mad coves an' bitin' back what was bitten is our job.

You all set, then?

V'kebbe

Ready, Jacke.

Perimu Haurimu

Always!

Jacke

Then let's go cloy that sarcophagus─an' fit Aisibhir for a new coffin!

  • FR Vous allez regretter d'être nés, Progressistes de malheur ! ‘You will regret being born, wretched Progressists!’ English puns on fitting Aisibhir for a new coffin; French says the Progressists will regret being born.
  • DE Und den Galgenvögeln geht's verdammt noch mal an den Kragen! ‘And the gallows birds are damn well in for it!’ English puns on fitting Aisibhir for a new coffin; German says the gallows birds are in for it.
  • JA アイシービル率いる急進派を倒し、「黒の棺」をいただく。 ‘We defeat the radicals led by Aisibhir and take the "Black Coffin."’ English puns on fitting Aisibhir for a new coffin; Japanese simply says to defeat the radicals led by Aisibhir.

Milala

Status report?

Hm...

But, wait... That's not how it...

Sergeant! What of the rogues? Did they survive the battle?

...Alive, then. 'Twould seem we are deeply in their debt.

Why, of course, they're right h─

...The earrings! I could've sworn I was still...

...He wouldn't have! He stole them from me while I lay dying!?

That...that cad! I knew he was not to be trusted!

  • FR Mais oui, je lui ai moi-même dit où je préférais les garder pour ne pas me les faire voler ! ‘But of course, I told him myself where I preferred to keep them so they would not be stolen!’ English says she knew he couldn't be trusted; French has her realize she told him herself where she kept them.
  • DE Was für ein Teufelskerl! ‘What a devil of a fellow!’ English calls him a cad; German calls him a devil of a fellow, half in admiration.
  • JA 身につけろと言ったのも、最初からそれが狙い……! ‘Telling me to wear them was his aim from the start...!’ English says she knew he couldn't be trusted; Japanese says telling her to wear them was his plan all along.

“Keep an eye on them,” indeed. I should have known...

  • FR Ils sont vraiment malins comme des singes ! ‘They really are as clever as monkeys!’ English is rueful self-reproach; French admires the rogues as clever as monkeys.
  • JA さすがですわっ……! ‘Just what I'd expect of them...!’ English is rueful self-reproach; Japanese admires them as living up to their reputation.

Yellowjacket

The mine has been disabled, and the engineers should soon have it safely removed.

Our soldiers sustained some injuries in the battle with the Reformists, but none were fatal. ...Also, the Admiral sends her sincerest gratitude.

I don't rightly know, Captain... All we found near the sarcophagus were Reformists─either dead or strung from the rafters.

  • FR Quand nous sommes arrivés sur les lieux, les Progressistes gisaient tous au sol, solidement attachés avec des cordes, mais il n'y avait nulle trace des surineurs... ‘When we arrived on the scene, the Progressists were all lying on the ground, firmly tied with ropes, but there was no trace of the rogues...’ English finds Reformists dead or strung from the rafters; French finds them only tied up with ropes.
  • DE Als wir hier eintrafen, haben wir nur gefesselte Piraten vorgefunden, aber keinen einzigen Schurken. ‘When we got here, we found only tied-up pirates, but not a single rogue.’ English finds Reformists dead or strung from the rafters; German finds only tied-up pirates.
  • JA 我々が駆けつけたときには、縛られた海賊がいるばかりで、双剣士たちの姿は消えていました。 ‘When we rushed over, there were only tied-up pirates, and the rogues had vanished.’ English finds Reformists dead or strung from the rafters; Japanese finds only tied-up pirates.

...Ah, Captain? Might I have the Silver Sorrows from you now? We've been ordered to hand them over to the commodore, along with the Black Sarcophagus.

Look, there she is! That's Captain Milala! The hero of Limsa Lominsa!

Are you recovered from your wound, Captain!?

We heard how you very nearly lost your life stopping that horde of pirates from blowing up the Mizzenmast!

Three cheers for the Yellowjackets! Our city'd be lost without ye!

Perimu Haurimu

Are ye sure about this, Jacke? We should've cloyed the sarcophagus as well.

(★未使用/削除予定★)

Do ye think Milala'll leave it at that, then? I get the feelin' we ain't done with her yet.

Aye. This city ain't ever quiet for long...

Well, it's been a pleasure workin' with ye, [name]! If I ever need a trusty pair o' stabbers by me side, I'll know who to ask!

Jacke

(★未使用/削除予定★)

...Eh, I think she's earned it, don't you? If it bothers ye that much, think of it as a trade.

  • FR Nous n'avons rien de spécial à en tirer, et ça fera un souvenir pour mademoiselle sainte nitouche. ‘We have nothing special to gain from it, and it will make a souvenir for Miss Goody-Two-Shoes.’ English says she has earned it; French mocks her as Miss Goody-Two-Shoes getting a souvenir.

Well, I didn't ask ye!

  • FR C'était un cas de force majeure ! ‘Shh! It was a case of force majeure!’ English snaps that nobody asked; French excuses it as a case of force majeure.
  • DE Bist doch bestimmt nur neidisch auf meinen neuen Schmuck. ‘You're surely just jealous of my new jewellery.’ English snaps that nobody asked; German says the other is just jealous of his new jewellery.

So, the 'Jackets ended up with the mine, an' we got the diamond an' the earrings. Which means... Victory belongs to the Rogues' Guild!

I'd say we're done with her challenge, but ye never know when our paths'll cross again. We'll just have to see what Limsa's underbelly spits up next.

  • FR Je ne saurais dire, mon cher Perimu Haurimu, mais tant que nous resterons tapis dans l'ombre, nous n'aurons pas à nous inquiéter de ceux qui évoluent uniquement sous les feux de la rampe. ‘I couldn't say, my dear Perimu Haurimu, but as long as we stay hidden in the shadows, we will not have to worry about those who move only in the spotlight.’ English waits to see what the underbelly brings next; French says shadow-dwellers need not fear those in the spotlight.
  • DE Gut möglich, aber sie wird sich mit dem Gedanken anfreunden müssen, dass die Schurkengilde in Limsa Lominsa unverzichtbar ist. ‘Quite possible, but she will have to get used to the idea that the Rogues' Guild is indispensable in Limsa Lominsa.’ English waits to see what the underbelly brings next; German says she must accept the guild is indispensable.

We'd best head back to the Sisters, too, afore the shrew decides she'd rather hear us cry cockles.

Bene work, [name]. Be seein' ye soon.

V'kebbe

If ye ask me, they look a bit daft.
